A link to the Rendezvous with Simi Garewal episode with Rishi Kapoor & Neetu Singh as guests. The first time it has been filmed with a live audience and I was in the audience! Yay!

Dasvidaniya - I had never heard of this film; someone posted on FB one of those "must see Bollywood films" lists and this was on it and, since I've always liked Vinay Pathak, I thought I'd give it a go. Vinay Pathak was very good whch was only to be expected. He has such a kind face and he made his character very likeable. The film had some sweet moments; I loved the scenes with Vinay Pathak and Neha Dhupia as well as the scenes with Vinay Pathak and Gaurav Gera who played his brother. It was a sad movie It is a lovely movie - sad but also funny and sweet. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Boothnath and Boothnath returns. Movies for children and adults. Good moments. I have a little preference for the first one. Big B is very good, and the children actors too. I preferred the first one too. Not a film but a live performance of a Hindi version of Twelfth Night, by the Company Theatre Mumbai - part of the Oz Asia festival held each year in Adelaide. www.ozasiafestival.com.au/events/twelfth-night/ I went to an 11am performance which was mainly for school groups so was surrounded by sweaty teenagers. It was amazing and brilliant and hilarious. There were screens on either side of the dais (where the musicians sat) with surtitles. I had a good view of one screen but am not sure if all the students had such a good view and some seemed a little puzzled. There was plenty of interaction with the audience and all the cast members sang. It was wonderful, the funnest Shakespeare I have ever seen.

I was talking about short films a while ago and came across a real gem called Afterglow. It's a lovely movie, if a bit sad, without one of those twist endings that the short films usually have. The acting is first-rate. It will only take 20 minutes out of your day. linkThank you for that link. It was sweet and sad.

This afternoon I watched Amu on Netflix. Very well acted etc social drama about a young woman (Konkona Sen Sharma), raised in USA, going back to India to visit family etc and discovering the painful truth about her early childhood. 60/40 mix of English & Hindi. Some heartbreaking scenes towards the end.

Started to watch Bodyguard (Salman, Kareena and friendly appearance by Katrina K) on Netflix. Watched about 10 minutes on Netflix and thought 'This is crap'. Saw on IMDB it only had a 4.5 rating - at least I wasn't the only person who thought it was crap.

More from Netflix -
Delhi in a Day - middle class family blame their household staff for the disappearance of a guest's money. Mainly in English.
Jugni - a music director goes to the Punjab to find some new music for a movie she is involved in. Enjoyable watch.

36 Chowringhee Lane - hubby watched a bit of it with me and I was able to tell him - 'That is Felicity Kendal's sister, Jennifer. And that is her father playing her (Jennifer's) brother'. He had stopped watching by the time it got to Jennifer's daughter and son's roles, lol.
Dhanak - just delightful. On Netflix.
Hum Aapke Hain Koun - On Netflix -It was a bit long and I fast forwarded one song. I had an eye on the Wikipedia entry for the soundtrack and after the movie finished realised that I hadn't seen the Chocolate Lime Juice song (it wasn't the one that I skipped - that one was just before Pooja had her accident). Was it edited out for Netflix?!?!

At the IFFM 2016 I had my pic taken with Rituparna Sengupta, one of the stars of Rajkahini. She and the director, Srijit Mukherji, held a Q&A session after the movie.

From Induna -
Rajkahini - only two words to describe this - brilliant and visceral, so don't now if I'll watch the DVD as a re-watch just yet but I had just had to get it.
A 5 DVD set called Best from Prithvi Theater - 36 Chowringhee Lane, Junoon, Utsav, Kal Yug & Vijeta. Shashi Kapoor is in all except 36 Chowringhee. His wife, Jennifer, is in 2 of them and is listed as costume designer for 3 of them. Rekha is in 3.

Things I've seen since I last checked in -
At the IFFM - Ek Albela, *ing Vidya Balan. A biopic about Bhagwan Dada (Master Bhagwan) who started in silent films and went on to direct & produce movies. Vidya played Geeta Bali, his co-star in Albela. - A Girl in the River - Pakistani documentary about honour killings, and one girl's survival and her fight for justice. Horrific. - Saving Face - another Pakistani documentary about women who have acid poured over their faces. It follows 2 women, their fight for justice and the plastic surgeon who helps them with their appearance. Again, horrific things that men do to women.
Since getting home - Patiala House. Snap!
