Also made it through about 2/3 of Tevar. On an Arjun Kapoor kick and the first half was fine, but the second half (and Sonakshi's damsel in distress acting...she knew the role was crap and her acting shows that) was terrible. A shame because I like their jodi in theory. You got further into Tevar than I did. I have tried to watch it a couple of times but didn't get very far. Aaja Nachle - loved this, particularly the play at the end. I thought how much younger Madhuri (I know the movie is nearly 10 years old) looked with a softer make-up and looser, more casual hair (especially in the first scenes of her rehearsing her dancers) compared with some of her movies. And another I just loved - Barfi - just delightful.

Banjo - was OK but I was fixated with the hairline of Ritesh's wig and the size of Nargis Fakhri's lips (are they getting bigger??). For any of you who follow the 2 Foreigners in Bollywood facebook page - one of them has a very small speaking role near the end of the movie - as a US customs/immigration official. As mentioned in the Filmfare board - Kahaani 2. Saw with a friend and we both liked it. It was gripping with a few little twists. Dil Aashna Hai - because it is one of SRK's early film roles. Aaargh - those ghastly, juvenile women's costumes that the 90s were so fond of. Dishoom - enjoyable silliness Some laugh out loud moments for me. Dilwale - a re-watch.

There were a few little twists in it, I thought.

A friend and I saw it yesterday and both thought it was very good. Arjun and Vidya were both great

Dear Zindagi - saw this on opening day and there were only 8 in the audience but it was a 1pm screening. Loved it. Both SRK and Alia were FAB, as was the entire cast.
M.S. Dhoni: the Untold Story - had me engrossed and I much preferred it to Azhar.

What with one thing and another I have felt down in the dumps ever since Ae Dil Hai Mushkil but over the past few weeks I have watched - Utsav - *ing Rekha & Shashi Kapoor. It was quite erotic in places and I didn't recognise Shashi Kapoor at first with the extra hair length and massive moustache. 2 Kashmir related ones - Border and Lamhaa Happy Bhag Jayegi - enjoyed Sarkar and Sarkar Raj - both excellent and most recently, Force which I didn't mind for a muscle movie with plenty of violence...

A parcel arrived today from Induna -
Mother India Muhal-E-Azam (in colour)
and because I have decided to try and get all of SRK's movies on DVD, or as many as I can -
Veer-Zaara Baazigar and a 3-1 which includes King Uncle (no subtitles so should be interesting...)
But all of these are going under the Christmas tree so I won't be watching any of them for a month or so.

Went with an older movie a couple of days ago - Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. I was kind-of fixated on the 90's mullet (albeit shorter mullets) hairstyles but enjoyed the movie. Aamir was so lovable and, awww, young Imran K playing young Aamir's character. And because yesterday was SRK's birthday I re-watched a favourite - RNBDJ.

As a chaser to that downer, Margaret of Don't Call It Bollywood highly recommended the feel good Telugu reincarnation film Manam. If you want a comfort movie, where even if people die, but they come back and it all works out in the end, this film is like a big old mug of hot chocolate goodness. It's available for rental on Google Play with subs. The past romance of Nagarjuna (pictured on the right) is just swoony, and the actor on the left is his real life son Naga Chaitanya (who in the film is the reincarnation of his father). I need some feel good so will have to check it out

A bit of a downer of a Diwali weekend here. First I felt down after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and then some bad news today - earlier in the week there were news reports about a Punjabi bus driver being the victim of an arson attack in Brisbane. Sadly, he did not survive. Today I discover that he had been one of the performers at a Diwali Mela I went to last weekend, he was wonderful. Am in shock and feeling sad & low

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil - such a sad ending, I left the cinema feeling a bit down . Some similarities to Rockstar. A couple of surprise appearances - one actor and one actress (I won't spoil the surprise...). Lots of filmi references to KJo's and other movies. Great cast did a good job but such a sad ending...

I have done a re-watch of Paheli sometime in the past couple of weeks and I caved in and watched Mohenjo Daro. It wasn't quite as dire as I was expecting, an easy enough time pass which seemed like a bonkers costume party in places. I guess the numerous disclaimers about historical accuracy at the beginning of the movie lets them off the hook... I finally watched Mohenjo Daro this weekend and had a similar reaction. Her headdress was the best and worst part of the movie. To me it felt like someone had gone to the clearance bins in a craft supply shop, grabbed every feather, shell & big bead in every colour they could find and then had a 'Make a Headdress' workshop

I was dragged along to see Inferno not realising that Irrfan Khan is in it. At first his character is a wee-ish bit of a bad guy but then becomes a good guy and then his character is killed. Waaah, just like in Jurassic World. WTH?
