This isn't old by emily's standards, but can't stop playing it lately. I love its Irish flute music meets Bollywood vibe! Tap dancing!!

I just so love this song from Baazigar. I just so love that dance that Shahrukh and Kajol did together.

^ Yes! Been listening to this one this morning. I just love it. I find myself singing "vah vah vah vah vah vah" very randomly sometimes The guy who does the "Affo khudaa" scream is Prayag Raj, who also did the "YAHOO!" in Junglee.

I note that the second line lyrics include "Gauri Gauri" which is SRK's wife's name, and as SRK approaches Kajol the word "cajole" is heard. Although the backup dancers wear Indian costumes and the lyrics are Hindi, SRK and Kajol are in Western dress, and the dance steps are *very* Western! Dancelover I just so love this song from Baazigar. I just so love that dance that Shahrukh and Kajol did together.

^Gauri just means "white", "fair", "pale", etc. When he says "yeh gore gore gaal", he's saying "these white white cheeks".

So that matches the first line "yeh kali kali ...." these black black ...." And kajal is eyeshadow, and the ladies' names are mere coincidence. Dancelover ^Gauri just means "white", "fair", "pale", etc. When he says "yeh gore gore gaal", he's saying "these white white cheeks".

Tonight's listening: "John Jani Janardhan" from Naseeb (1981). It's a "spot the famous face" sort of song, similar to "Deewangi Deewangi" from OSO. Lots of my favs in this one.

Other than Amitaub, I would not recognize stars from the '70s and '60s except for Sharmila, Raj & Rishi, and maybe Hema, Parveen and Zeenat. Scorecard, please? Sure! I can't give a frame by frame, but off the top of my head I saw Randhir Kapoor, Rakesh Roshan, Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, Simi Garewal, and Raj Kapoor. EDIT: Wikipedia has a list.

^ Not sure about Parveen, but I think Waheeda Rehman accompanied Raj Kapoor into the room.

Since yesterday the melody of this Sholay song has stuck in my head! and today I remembered my other favorite buddie song!
...this one!
the 80's is my one of my favorite eras, and this goes for music too. I also love the picturization of the songs in this decade! It's so realistic but escapist at the same time!

I now am able to understand some lyrics. I note that Hindi singers often switch "d" with "r"! Ladki-larki, badi-bari, etc. Now here again he sings toR-enge instead of toD-enge! Dancelover, still reeling from Barry Mush-i-keel Since yesterday the melody of this Sholay song has stuck in my head! [snip - D]
