Figured out today that this delightful little number is sampled in "Aisa Des Hai Mera" from my favorite Hindi film Veer-Zaara. B.R. Chopra directed Naya Daur, and his little brother Yash was an assistant director on that film who later went on to make films like Veer-Zaara and many others. Love the little connections made across generations.

From Suhaag (1979), with Big B and Rekha - Teri Rab Ne Bana Di JodiI have a particular affection for this song as it was filmed very close to where we live: the building that later became our apartment block is visible in the background at one point. I've often thought they should put up a plaque in the park: "Amitabh Bachchan danced RIGHT HERE!". And it's lovely to see suburban Londoners going about their business and sitting around in deckchairs, taking no notice of the Bollywood megastars just a few yards away What a fun fact MrB!! I love it!!

If you at all like old filmi music (or old filmi stuff in general) you'll love this video I stumbled upon of clips from a live Shankar-Jaikishen feature, featuring performances from Mukesh and Rafi, among others. (Also RK, singing "Aye Bhai Zara Dekh Ke Chalo" from MNJ.) Plus footage of lots and lots of Bolly celebs arriving. It's just a treat to watch.

Umrao Jaan (the original) soundtrack. I will never get over how beautiful the ghazals are in this film. Asha Bhosle's finest work, IMO.

Ek Main Aur Ek Tu from Khel Khel Mein. I normally can't stand Rishi Kapoor, but he's ok here, and Neetu Singh is so pretty.
Before that, I was listening to Ab Ke Sajan Saawan Mein Aag Lagegi Badan from Chupke Chupke
And also, Yahan Main Ajnabi Hoon from Jab Jab Phool Khile. Shashi Kapoor was especially handsome in this movie.

Lata's voice was so much sweeter when she was young. Sometimes I forget how lovely it was.
Just finished listening to this one too...

I have been listening to this for the past week. I don't know if it's considered that old to be included in this thread, is it? I love the rythm and the melody of this song. I also want an orange sari like the one Madhuri is wearing here I also like the cinematography, the light is very soft and it gives the song a mysterious atmosphere. Also, the opening scene with those ominus dark rain clouds it kind of affects me. I wonder if it was filmed like that in purpose or just happened.

From the average movie "Tezaab", also with Madhuri, a melancholic song: So Gaya Yeh Jahan So Gaya Aasman (The world has gone to sleep)
