Been watching the Beeb: The new (2005) Dr Who. As a veteran of the Jon Pertwee and (mainly) Tom Baker eras, I'm not sure I will keep watching the new show; wrapping everything up in an hour makes it all feel superficial and rushed. Luther. People here may be interested in the recurring character Alice Morgan, an amoral female genius turning the tables on the men who cross her path. Otherwise, the show was interesting, if not great. Felt like the writers were still working through issues having a minority from the lower classes (my impression, based on his accent) as the lead. The Fall ( Wikipedia). Search for a serial killer who is also a family man, set in the background of dangerous, violent, political Belfast. Not very good. Stars Gillian Anderson of X-Files fame as the lead investigator/liberated woman.

Sumatra coastal cave records stunning tsunami history www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-25269698 (good pictures) [...] "What we think we have is actually a near-complete sequence of late-Holocene deposits. This is amazing because usually the records we have are fragmentary at best. This coastal cave is a unique 'depot centre', and it's giving us a remarkable snapshot of several thousands of years, allowing us to figure out every single tsunami that would have taken place during that time," said Dr Pilarczyk, who is affiliated also to Rutgers University, US. The team's other investigations along the Acehnese coast are filling in the period from 3,000 years ago to the present. And the take-home message from all this research is that the biggest tsunamis are not evenly spaced through time. Yes, there can be long periods of quiescence, but you can also get major events that are separated by just a few decades. [emphasis added] [...]

The gods decided to shower him with something other than praise.
The people profiled in the Indian version of Hoarders had comparatively few personal possessions.
Charmme: "...and I'd like to thank Reshma for not 'accidentally' slashing my face with the cake knife even though she clearly wanted to."

Good luck, Corbie! I'm not sure what you mean by 'get the service'. If you end up needing help, it would be good to mention the specific name of the service and the specific model numbers of the TV, Blu-ray player, etc.

I agree. In the meantime, I've edited my profile info to be less extensive. I wasn't singling you out; it just happened to your post I was reading when I noticed the issue. I think I've been spoiled by Twitter clients where every message fits in a 1cm tall space.

I took the liberty of starting a 'connect your computer to your TV' topic in The Art of Viewing subforum: bollywhat.boards.net/thread/138/connecting-computer-tv It felt like most computer to TV connections going forward are going to be wireless, so I wrote it from that perspective. There are some good guides to wired connections out there, so I linked to them.

There are two basic ways to connect your computer to your TV: wired and wireless. WirelessTV with built-in wirelessIf you have a 'smart TV' with built-in wireless, and you have connected it to your home network, you should then be able to search for the TV model and search terms such as 'play video from computer' to find what software you need to run on your computer to play video on the TV over wifi. TV connected to device with wirelessIf your TV is connected to a device connected to your home network, such as an Apple TV or PlayStation 3 or 4, you can search for the device and 'play video from computer' to find out how to get video to appear on the TV. An Apple TV is the best wireless way to get video from an iPhone or iPad to your TV. TV connected to wireless dongleThere are some devices, such as the Chromecast, which exist to connect the HDMI port on a TV to a wireless network. Don't purchase a Chromecast without reading reviews first, it has some limitations and may not meet your needs. Chromecast may be the best wireless way to get video from an Android device to your TV. WiredThe biggest challenge in setting up a wired connection is determining which ports your computer and TV have. It is OK if they don't have a port in common (i.e., both having HDMI ports). The important thing is knowing which device has which ports, so you can find the right cable and any adapters needed. Some guides with pictures: hookpctotv.com/ (looks very helpful in general; hasn't been updated for the new iOS devices with Lightning connectors) www.bestbuy.com/site/Electronics-Promotions/Connect-Laptop-To-TV/pcmcat212600050003.c?id=pcmcat212600050003windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/connect-your-computer-to-a-tv

Take a look at the length of the left hand side of this post versus the length of the post itself: bollywhat.boards.net/post/348Perhaps some/all of the profile information should just be shown on the user's profile page?
