The camaraderie between Ranveer and Arjun was cute but watching Ranveer is EXHAUSTING. Like, he needs medicated or tied down or something! He's a grown man, it gets a little tiresome to watch him hop around in every interview, and Karan could barely get a word in. Idk, he seems like a nice guy, but I can understand why he (allegedly) irks so many people in the industry. Arjun, on the other hand, seems like such a cool dude. Just the right amount of fun and seriousness. He was so level-headed when talking about his family, and ngl, the things he said about his mother's death had me tearing up a little bit Tomorrow is the SOTY episode. I don't know why Karan keeps shoving those three down our throats, especially when their movie released well over a year ago. Of all the people he could have invited.....*sigh*

Maybe because all three of them are doing so much other work now? D [snip - d] Tomorrow is the SOTY episode. I don't know why Karan keeps shoving those three down our throats, especially when their movie released well over a year ago. Of all the people he could have invited.....*sigh*

Siddarth's movie with Parineeti seems to be coming out relatively soon, as is Highway with Alia Bhatt. Varun's next is a bit further out, in March or thereabouts. I haven't seen SOTY and don't have strong opinions about the leads, but I don't think there's anything hugely unreasonable about Karan putting them on his show together, especially if he has enough other people he wants to appear on his show to where he doesn't want to do a Parineeti/Siddarth ep, an Alia/Randeep ep, a Varun/Ileana/Nargis ep.
ETA: watched part of the Ranveer-Arjun ep; didn't care for it. I like Ranveer as a screen personality, but here he just seemed kind of snotty to me, not really funny or candid or "genuine" in the way that his fans on Pinkvilla were claiming. (Although the incidents he relates about while he was working in the States during his college years explain a lot about his apparent belief that he's God's gift to women.) Arjun came off as a bit pompous, although when you get the backstory on his family it makes sense that he would be that way. His discussion of his mother's illness and death was moving; I think I vaguely knew the story from print articles but hearing it from him was different.
The Pinkvillesians were going on about how it was clear that Karan didn't like Ranveer; my impression was that it was the other way around: Karan was trying to be gracious to someone he finds not very comprehensible, and Ranveer was being antagonistic for no apparent reason. I have not seen the Anushka-Ranveer episode from season 3 though, so maybe Karan was nasty to him there, and Ranveer was giving it back to him..

Priyanka/Deepika episode: full disclosure, when I first got into Bollywood, I had seen neither of these ladies and was constantly getting them mixed up due to my language comprehension problems (for some reason the names looked similar to me) and the fact that at that time everyone seem to complain about them being models first and actresses last.
Priyanka came off as kind of jaded and snotty when she was interacting with Karan, but they had been on the outs at one point, supposedly, and that's probably the reason; she came off as reasonably nice to Deepika. There were one or two places where her reactions or responses kind of made me raise my eyebrows and go "Oh-kay, then..."
Deepika wasn't Aamir levels of poker-faced, but she was more restrained. She did not like Karan's cattier questions or some of Priyanka's answers (notably "the truth about Kats and dogs" remark about Ranbir). Priyanka was reasonably diplomatic about the idea of Deepika as competition, but I had the impression Deepika did not like her answer.
ETA: just wanted to clarify that inspite of my quibbles on the whole I liked this episode better than most of the others. Priyanka's teasing of Deepika came off as good-natured, and Deepika seemed indulgent of her silliness. They had a lot of fun together in the buzzer round.

I actually thought the two of them came off as being friendlier than anticipated. PC's idea of Deepika as competition was touching, I thought, and that's what I saw on Deepika's face - a kind of 'thanks for the honesty'.
I loved how both of them dissolved into giggles a lot. Kinda like the Deepika Sonam episode in Season 3 too. I think they were more guarded with Karan than with each other, and reasonably so since Karan puts on a gossipy persona for the show, which I don't think is his real self (and he admits so on Tete-a-Tete at The Big Indian Picture). He ain't their friend on the couch, he's a nosey paparazzi who already knows too much about them and can dig and dig and dig, a contemporary whom they can't shut up.
LOVED the quiz. It's quickly proving to be the best part of the show. Aamir Kiran were my faves at the quiz, and these two are coming in at a quick second. The giggles just increased and increased, it was really great to see two women laugh at themselves and at each other. Loved how towards the end, when Priyanka reflexively denies having been Shahid's girlfriend, Deepika just destroys herself laughing saying "you're saying this now after I've said everything else before" - it was so hilarious.

Okay, so it's been a while since I've been here or posting anything, but here we go - mainly cuz I want to refute James' claim that the episodes are boring! ... Nothing about this is boring, James, is there? Those were the two interesting episodes up to that point. But point taken. I think I was really super disappointed (and bored! by the episode with Salman. He's an actor who has a lot of skeletons in his closet (no pun intended) and it would be really interesting to hear more about who he really is, vs. his public image. Of the two you mentioned, I think I enjoyed the Ranvir-Arjun one better. They just seemed really happy and exuberant, which is a nice contrast from the calm, self-censorious type of interview you often get from BW stars. Also enjoyed the episode with Priyanka and Deepika, it was nice to see how well they get along and none of the crap about how female actors can't get along together. So perhaps things are looking up and it'll get better, I'm sure I'll see more.

What happened to Madhuri-Juhi? It doesn't seem to be mentioned in the season line up at all, but it was filmed....

I think they will postpone the MadhuriPJuhi episode futher into February, maybe even March, so it will be part of Gulaab Gang promotions.

I binge-watched the last several episodes, so apologies for the haphazard comments below:
I'm with James on being disappointed in this season. Likely due to last season's controversies, Karan and his guests come off as rehearsed and overly diplomatic. (On a similar note, I've noticed that the rapid fire round is shorter than it was in previous seasons.)
If I had a penny for every time Karan mentioned Ranbir Kapoor on his show. I get that Ranbir is his golden boy, but I really wish he would give it a rest.
Putting aside the salacious and gossipy nature of the show, Karan's interviewing skills have been lacking this season. He had two actors (Salman and Aamir) who have never been on his show, and he couldn't think of anything interesting to ask them?! I mean, Aamir has told that story about him being reluctant to accept Lagaan in numerous interviews.
I'm also not too fond of some of the pairings this season. With all due respect to people like Nargis Fakhri and Anil Kapoor, I doubt very many people are keenly awaiting their respective episodes. I realize that Karan might not have as much control over this aspect of the show and several actors and actresses may have declined to appear with each other or at all. At the end of the day, though, it doesn't make for very interesting viewing.
The Ranbir-Kareena episode has been my least favorite so far. I found the whole thing scripted and dull. I didn't care for the Aamir, Salman or SOTY episodes either.
The Ranveer-Arjun episode was great and will likely be my favorite of the season. I loved the boys' energy and friendship and constant breaking out into song. They both came across as really fun and unpretentious, and I was touched by Arjun's comments about his mom/family.
The Priyanka-Deepika episode was decent. Deepika was her usual warm, diplomatic self. Priyanka came across as a bit affected and faux-girlish in some parts, but she was more charming than she was last season. I really side-eyed Karan for asking Deepika if she was still in love with Ranbir, considering he hadn't asked anything of the sort to Ranbir himself. I got the sense that he was trying to paint Deepika as someone who is still pining after her ex. Deepika handled that question pretty well though. On an unrelated note, this episode had a super fun Koffee Quiz. That segment is fast becoming the best part of the show.

I think Karan asked if Deepika was in love with Ranveer Singh, not Ranbir Kapoor.

I think Karan asked if Deepika was in love with Ranveer Singh, not Ranbir Kapoor. He asked her both, actually. With regard to Ranbir, he asked her if she was still in love with him and whether she planned on removing the RK tattoo.

could you point out where he said that exactly? He asked about the tattoo, yes, but i don't think he asked if she was still in love with him, I think it was more like whether they were now okay with each other after all the controversy from the last season.

Sure thing. At around 10:03 in this video, Karan asks Deepika: "So, you're not in love with Ranbir now?" This was in response to Deepika saying she was open about her relationship with Ranbir at the time because she felt she was in love with him. I watched the Farhan-Vidya episode today and thought it was pretty snooze-worthy. Karan continues to ask the most insipid and dull questions he can think of. Akshay Kumar is set to appear next week, so I hope that episode is a bit better.

Yeah, that's exactly the spot I meant, I'm pretty sure Karan said "so you're not in love with Ranveer now" since she'd just said she talked about the previous relationship (with Ranbir) because she believed to be really in love with him (Karan thereby hinting that her not talking about Ranveer now might be because she's not in love with Ranveer - i.e. dating but not 'in love'). That's what I got from it. As for Farhan Vidya, yeah, I kinda guessed his humour will be pretty minimal and low-key, not the cheesy kind Karan puts up in this persona. It was sweet of him to offer the quiz prize to Vidya, and she was passive aggressive in refusing it, but still, the quiz, as you said, is really becoming the best part of the show. Interesting Farhan seemed the least competitive of them all, so far.

Akshay Kumar is set to appear next week, so I hope that episode is a bit better. Before I saw the promo I would have been prepared to bet that episode would have set new records in dullness, but subjecting Karan to the rapid fire round has got to be more interesting than asking the usual questions of Mr. "I plan to become the most diplomatic person in the industry" Kumar. ETA: got a chance to watch the Farhan/Vidya episode. I've previously read print interviews with them and seen some brief clips of Vidya "out of character" promoting movies and appearing at awards events, but nothing like this, so it was interesting from that POV. Farhan came off as a bit...smug?...complacent? in spots, but also seemed like a mellow, basically good-natured person with a fairly amusing sense of humor (although he and Vidya both had some pretty lame innuendoes). Having seen about half of Dil Chahta Hai and most of Don, I have no trouble believing that Farhan is OCD about inanimate objects-his visual style as a director just reflects that. I already knew that Vidya would start giggling at ANY provocation or none at all, and for the most part I found her behavior cute-just wanted to reach through the screen and pinch her cheek. That being said, it was very obvious that she charms the heck out of most men she meets, and she knows that perfectly well. I had the feeling marriage was not quite what she expected-where she was talking about her and SiddarthRK spending so much time apart for professional reasons, there was a kind of wistfulness there, although in general she seemed happy when talking about her husband. And the men (Farhan and Karan) did not believe one word coming out of her mouth when she said she was "done with" listening to the gossip about herself. The poutiness about losing both quiz rounds was I think something she felt but was maybe exagerrating for effect, and I think Farhan knew her well enough to recognize that.
