This is such an interesting topic (one that people also seem to send me every single link they ever encounter on it, go figure ). Funny story: I just watched Julie, a film about an Anglo-Indian community, and two of the Anglo-Indian Christian characters in it were played by Jewish actors, Nadira and Sulochana (Ruby Myers).

What that article does not say, because it only talks of people who were Jews in their own or their parents lifetime, is something I read in one article in Wikipedia (believe at your own risk). About a thousand years ago, a large group of Jews came to India. Half of them remained Jews, and their descendants are still Jews in India. The other half promptly turned Hindi, and had the good fortune to be considered Bramins. Their descendants include Madhuri Dixit (which may be why she looks like some of those faces in that article). This is great. I love the young picture of David on that page - I am so much more used to seeing him looking like this:

Iris "Sabita Devi" Gasper is next in my plans, along with Gohar K Mamajiwala. I am working them in order of birth, so I won't get to Nadira for a while. D A list of jodis and kinships played by Ruby "Sulochana" Myers is now at bollywhat.boards.net/thread/396/jodis-older-classic-stars?page=3&scrollTo=11433 Dancelover This is such an interesting topic (one that people also seem to send me every single link they ever encounter on it, go figure ).
