On a more serious note, maybe this issue concerns mainly men as unemployement won't stop women from getting married or make them lose face in front of their family.

The issue raised in the movie was that Dhanush's character wasn't respected as a man in his family, that even his younger brother was getting more respect than him and that he couldn't possibly fathom the idea of getting in a serious relationship because he had no job to support a family of his own and thus be a breadwinner which isn't expected from a woman. His father was often pestering him because he thought his son was useless which sparked a lot of arguments between father and son.

The ending was indeed filmy and kinda superficial but it might have been inspirational for those who watched the movie and are in the same situation because the main character manages to overcome the difficulties during his journey, nepotism mainly.
