This is a remake of Neeraj Pandey's 2013 heist/period piece Special Chabbis (26). Ravi Teja, doing one of his "Mass Maharajah in a Class Appearance" roles, takes over Akshay Kumar's role of the lead thief/con artist (after Akshay played Ravi's Vikramarkudu role when it was remade as Rowdy Rathore; the irony is not lost on Ravi). Prakash Raj takes over Manoj Bajpai's role as the relentless and sarcastic but honest CBI officer who tracks the con artists down. Some comedy uncle plays Anupam Kher's role as the second in command of the thieves/con artists, and I don't know who's gotten the love interest role originated by Kajal Aggarwal, or the small but key roles played by Jimmy Shergill and Divya Dutta.
This will be the second Hindi-to-Telugu remake of a recentish film Akshay was involved in, after the release of Gopala Gopala (OMG remake).
There is also a Tamil version in the works but not as far along; I always wanted to see Prakash take a stab at Anupam's role in S26 and I'm kind of hoping the Tamil version gives it to him. Manoj's role would be right up his alley as well though.
