It was a bit of a headache coming up with a list that would please people writing for the Hindi Cinema Blog but we were finally able to come up with a TOP 10 BOLLYWOOD SONG 2014 list (that has some Malayalam and Marathi thrown in the mix for fun purposes). Would be very happy if you all felt free to read it, listen to the songs and contribute with your own personal favorites there or here in the forum. Happy New Year to all Bollywhat-ers!

Nice list. This is my favorite song of 2014. (Even better with the scenes from the movie)

I personally preferred Hangover over Jumme ki Raat and Lovely over Manwa from the Kick and Happy New Year soundtracks, but overall I felt like this was a good list from a weak year. It feels like 2012 was an amazing year for filmi music and 2013 a moderately good one, and 2014 a bit thin on the ground by comparison.
A love song I personally consider a bit underrated, although it's attached to about the worst possible movie for a song of that type is Shaukeens' Meherbani:
Also, although none of them are really top-ten material, I am very fond of the "perky noodling minimalist love song with cute picturization" trend, as represented by Aaj Dil Shayrana:

I can't quite nail down quite why, but Lovely is my favorite song on that soundtrack. I just love it so much and it was AWESOME on the big screen.

That's a great list, and Sajde is my absolute favorite song of 2014! These are some others that I also liked:
Tu - Bobby Jasoos
Mast Magan - 2 States
Harjaiyaan - Queen
Galliyan - Ek Villain
I also liked the unplugged version of Galliyan, it's sung by Shraddha Kapoor.
Samjhawan - Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

Yeah, Bobby Jasoos had some pretty good music overall; I would say possibly best soundtrack in a female-centric movie for this year.
Also, although the lyrics are a bit odd and the picturization nothing to write home about, Dance Basanti was one of my favorite party/dance tracks of the year:

A fair list. Mine would probably include Samajhawan from Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania, Banjara from Ek Villain and Maahi Ve from Highway in place of Fugly, Fanny and Akaash Zale. I also think the wedding song from Bangalore Days is by far the best in the soundtrack. I also love Lovely as a dance song, but I can see how Manwa Laage is more universally enjoyable.
