This is Vijay's and Murgadoss's second collaboration after the major hit Thuppaki, and it is scheduled for a Diwali 2014 release. Neil is probably playing a villain. We don't know too much else about it, but it has a really awesome motion poster:

Vijay is the Samsung of Indian cinema. It feels like Samantha is in a bunch of upcoming/new/recent movies.

Full trailer out:
Maybe the dialogue gives away more interesting details that I'm missing but this looks like a fairly standard South Indian masala, with almost more of a Tollywood flavor than a Kollywood one. Not as distinctive as the trailer for Thuppaki, the last Vijay/Murgadoss collaboration.

'Kaththi' conflict has been resolved, Happy Deepavali: VijayUdhav Naig “Since producers have agreed to remove (Lyca Productions’) name from the title and banner, the conflict has been resolved and decks have been cleared for (the film's) release this Deepavali” Kollywood actor Vijay, who remained silent even as Tamil outfits upped the ante against Kaththi's producer, Lyca Productions, who was alleged to have business links with Sri Lankan President, Mahinda Rajapaksa, has released a statement thanking producers for agreeing to remove Lyca from the film's banner. He also thanked former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. In a statement, he said, "Over the last few days, few Tamil outfits have been demanding that references to Lyca Productions be removed from the film's banner and title. Since the producers have agreed to remove the name from the title and banner, the conflict has been resolved and decks have been cleared for its release this Deepavali. I hope the fans and public enjoy the film this Deepavali." "I thank J. Jayalalithaa for all the support. I also thank the police and exhibitors," he said. The actor also wished everyone for Deepavali.

Murugadoss talking to the protestors of the film (in Tamil). Basically he talks about how when you make a movie, this group and that group pop up and ask to see the film, as if they have any authority, and they protest it without even seeing it, the Lyca-Rajapaksha thing, how he's thought about making movies in languages besides Tamil if these headaches keep happening, etc.

Saw this last week and thought it was OK. It's definitely not as good as Thuppakki but the fight scenes were fantastic and the supporting actors playing various elders from the village were awesome! It's not just about biffo either - the hero Kathiresan has to think up solutions rather than just apply his fists. Downsides were the terrible romance - Samantha gets very little screen time and only really appears in the songs which pop up at odd times. And the whole social justice plot feels a bit uncomfortable given that A.R. Murugadoss is using a serious real life issues about farmers in TN for a masala movie plot. Vijay has a double role (yay!) and is excellent, so worth seeing for some good action and great dancing.
