(also starring Tamannaah Bhatia and a golden retriever).
Produced by Tips Films, directed by debutants Sajid-Farhad (script-writers on the Golmaal movies, Housefull 2, Himmatwala, and Boss), shot mostly in Bangkok. The plot involves Akshay getting mixed up with comically feuding gangster step-brothers (Prakash and Sonu), a super-competent dog (the golden retriever) and, predictably, a girl (Tamannaah) who's far too young for him regardless of anything the script may say to the contrary.
They're nearly done filming this, with a song shoot in Goa going on as I type this post, and there's been some surprisingly positive buzz among industry insiders about it, with the chemistry between Akki and Tamannaah being praised. The directors claim this is a cleaner, family-friendlier movie than things like the recent Besharam-more like the Golmaal movies than, say, Housefull 2. Release date is up in the air, with May 1, 2014 being floated as a possibility.

Yep, Mithun-da and Johnny are in this, as is Nikitin Dheer, the baddie from Dabangg 1 and Chennai Express (son of 90s supporting actor Pankaj Dheer, who worked with Akshay in some of his early b-movies).
On the music front, we know that Sonu and Prakash were at one point supposed to get either a joint song picturization or one apiece, we know that the soundtrack is by Sachin Jigar (ABCD, Go Goa Gone), we know that Atif Aslam will be performing a song picturized on Akshay, and that there's a picturization they're shooting on the beach in Goa right now with Remo D'Souza (ABCD) as choreographer.

(also starring Tamannaah Bhatia and a golden retriever). This one had me in splits XD Guess Tamannaah's part won't really be interesting. Let's just hope I'm wrong... Akshay and Tamannaah do look good together surprisingly.

Sady: yeah, Sonu's been looking very dashing in all the pics related to this movie; I kind of hope he has a love interest of his own in this. (This particular image is from his birthday party, I should look around for the one where he and Prakash Raj are feeding each other cake). jjake61: I just hope they haven't changed that, because it sounds like fun

Been set for August 8, 2014 release. (Ten days after Kick and a week before Singham 2). August tends to be a good time for me to get over to the Big Movie Theater Far Away that runs Bollywood films, so it's good for me...no opinion on whether it's good for the movie. My own hunch is that it's good *enough*, if they have a movie worth seeing and they promote it properly.

Great finds, thank you, sady!
vanillasky: I know I've seen at least one shot of Mithun in a suit with cravat/neckscarf and a couple other cast members, including Akshay, in a tux, but I haven't managed to find it again. :/

trailer:
(turn close captioning on for subtitles).
Dear Mithun-da: could you PLEASE sit your costars down and explain that performances are made and destroyed in the dialogue dubbing booth? You're the only person whose line readings in the trailer doesn't annoy me.
Not much to say about this; the absence of men in drag and the fun-looking snippets of the song picturizations put it a notch above the Humshakals trailer in my book. Sonu and Tamannaah look good, Akshay seems to be playing a horse's butt for a good chunk of the film, the dogs are cute. I actually like the premise as laid out here (love-hate bromance between a guy and his estranged father's adopted heir, only the adopted heir is a golden retriever), and can see why everyone involved thought this was a good idea at the time, but I'm not convinced that they managed to get a watchable movie out of it.

"Johnny Johnny" promo video now on youtube. So much for the movie being family-friendly. (Or Bolly n00bs-I can just imagine trying to show this to the same people who took issue with the "hiphop" moves in Holiday. Not.) The song's a goofy, highly electronic novelty number; the picturization is a pretty standard and kind of boring "booze and beachwear" routine, kind of like a more aggressively silly cousin to last year's Party All Night. Tamannaah doesn't get that much screen time, but she is dazzlingly charming when she shows up.
Random trivia: this was the last part of the movie filmed, shot over a couple days in April 2014 at an island resort near Mumbai. Akshay still had the shaggy hair from the Gabbar shoot at that point, although he had already shaved the beard/mustache from Gabbar.
ETA: not going to link to the highly boring making-of featurette, about which the nicest thing I can say is that the firangi backup dancers look like they're having fun for once, and the snippets from the song provides advance warning of some crude moments with Akki that did not make it to the promo video.

"Tera Naam Doon"-cute sappy song performed by Atif Aslam and Shalmali Kholghade, set to cute sappy, and (comparatively) unobjectionable video. I liked it, but your mileage may vary.
Trivia: Filmed November 2013 in Goa over a weekend+Monday. Akshay's family went up to Goa with him for a mini-vacation.
Making of Tera Naam Doon, in which we discover that Tamannaah is game for just about anything, and co-director Sajid gets embarrassed by listening to his brother and co-director Farhad's Atif Aslam impression.
