The 2014 Indian Film Festival Melbourne kicked off this evening. Amitabh Bachchan is there to open the festival and appear at the awards night. Unfortunately I am in Adelaide so can't make it Indian Film Festival Melbourne 2014

The theme for the 2015 festival is Equality. Some of the movies to be screened are Umrika, PK and Naanu Avanalla, Avalu (I Am Not He..She). Doubt I'll be able to get to Melbourne to see any though There is also a competition for short-film makers in India and Australia.

The 2015 IFFM is well underway - pity I can't get to see any of it. Guests this year - Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Simi Garewal, Shoojit Sircar. Here is a link to a 'conversation' with Anil Kapoor, Simi Garewal, Shoojit Sircar & Mitu Bhowmick-Lange (the festival director) on ABC radio. 774 ABC Melbourne

Am a wee bit excited - I'm going to Melbourne in August for the 2016 Indian Film Festival www.iffm.com.au/index.htmlThe thing to be a little less excited about is that I'll be staying at my son's house (a shared house) and will have a bed in a space under the stairs (not quite as bad as Harry Potter's cupboard under the stairs, perhaps). I have a plan to see 14 or 15 films in the 10 day period.

Only 3 more sleeps and I'll be off to Melbourne for the IFFM I have pre-purchased tickets for - the opening night movie - Parched - the IFFM Awards night - Raman Raghav 2.0 which has a Q&A session with Anurag K. & Nawaz S. - Raj Kahani which also has a Q&A - Under Construction - Waiting - Moor - Girl in the River & Saving Face - Angry Indian Goddesses
Also have registered my spot at Rendezvous with Simi Garewal - in conversation with Rishi K. & Neetu S.K.
There are a few other movies that I will probably go and see.
All these movies are at one cinema complex right in the city, easy for me to get to. Another cinema, not far from the city but a tram/train/tram journey, is showing quite a number of other festival movies but I don't want to make that journey by myself at night (the shopping centre it is in is called Highpoint but is commonly known as Knifepoint...)
Yippee!!!!

A link to the Rendezvous with Simi Garewal episode with Rishi Kapoor & Neetu Singh as guests. The first time it has been filmed with a live audience and I was in the audience! Yay!
