Saw two films from Spain and didn't care for either: I'm So Excited - Almodóvar's film, a metaphor for Spain in crisis. Timecrimes - A metaphor for adultery.

Benny's Video
This will not turn you into a Haneke fan but if you are familiar with the director already, this one is a very good watch. The ending was great.

Technically it's not a Hollywood film, so didn't want to put this in the Hollywood thread, but it's a British film in the English language.
Just watched In the Loop and loved it. It's one of the wittiest screenplays I've ever seen in a film. It was hysterical without being over the top. Sometimes understated wit is the funniest of all. Lots of profanity, which usually bothers me, but 95% of the cursing came from angry, profane characters anyway so I didn't mind. Outstanding ensemble cast...no weak links here. If you're interested in foreign policy at all, this film is a must watch.

Such a smart, funny movie. Have you seen The Thick of It, the TV series on which In the Loop is based? It's a political satire. I have not seen In The Loop, but The Thick Of It was about the world of spin doctors and the working of government policy in Britain. In The Loop added a US element to appeal to international audiences. The best character is probably Malcolm Tucker, the hilariously foul-mouthed spin doctor, played by Peter Capaldi. There was a lot of amused speculation about the direction Dr Who might take when he got the role.

No, I haven't seen The Thick of It. I need to add it to my list. In the Loop was brilliant.

When I heard Peter Capaldi was going to be Doctor Who, I couldn't initially wrap my brain around it, because all I could think of was Malcom Tucker from In The Loop.
For those who have never seen the film, this will give you a taste -- The Full Malcom Tucker in all his glory. "F*ckity bye!"

Two Days, One Night (2 jours, 1 nuit) by Dardenne brothers (Luc Dardenne & Jean-Pierre Dardenne) *ing Marion Cotillard
A depressed woman, Sandra, who is supposed to go back to work learns she has been sacked because her colleagues voted to get a bonus of 1000€ thus getting her expelled. To get back her position, she has to convinced her colleagues, during the course of a week end, to choose her over the bonus at the second vote.
It's a Belgian-French-Italian movie
It was a really great movie. One feels for Sandra who desperatelly tries to convince her colleagues to leave the bonus they need despite still not feeling well.

Elle L'Adore (2014)
Muriel, a beautician, is known as talkative and liking to make up crazy stories. She's also been a die-hard fan of the successful singer, Vincent Lacroix, for the past 20 years. One night, her idol comes knocking at her door and asks her to for a favour that will turn her life upside down. Indeed, he wants her to help hide his deceased girlfriend's body.
It's a really well-made movie that'll keep you on your toes. There is humour, drama and suspens. A really nice watch.
