Hi,
it was 3 years ago that I was in India 1st time. The people impressed me at the job, in the city (Bangalore). The joy of life, the positive attitude, colours, beauty, was something I have never experienced before. I have been living in Finland, Canada and Germany and I love them all, but India is my clear number 1. First I watched Indian cinema out of curiosity, but then I became obsessed of it, I simply have to see at least a couple of movies a week. And I cannot live without chilli pickle etc. And increasingly Indian music is my fav. Mainstream Bollywood is great (Kal Ho Na Ho, Jab tak hai jaan, Veer-Zaara, DDLJ ..), also Deepa Mehta (especially Midnight's children), Nandita Das, Nagesh Kukunoor (Hyderabad Blues is one of my top favs), Mira Nair (Namesake, Monsoon wedding, Mr&Mrs Iyer ..), of the old movies the ones of Satyajit Ray and Mrinal Sen, Mother India, Deewar ... I am thinking a lot what Indian movies have not addressed, the reality of NRIs, the India freaks like myself, the fact that Hindi is not known outside of India, if I know what pyaar, dost, bhai, bedi .. means, I am the expert.
I would like to share my experiences, that is why I wanted to join this forum

Welcome, Asko! We love people who share! If you inspect my Favorite Dances List in Naach-Gana, you will find they are all Interactive Dances, not Solos. Welcome to the forum, sounds like you have a lot of interesting perspective to bring. Where in Germany did you live? I spent some time there in the 1980's, just being curious.
