Hindi Dictionaries:Online:Several come from the excellent online resources of the University of Chicago's Digital Dictionaries of South Asia (DSAL) website. A Practical Hindi-English Dictionary by Mahendra Chaturvedi Hindi Shabdasagara by Shyamsundar Das NB: Hindi to Hindi dictionaryLearners' Hindi-English Dictionary by Hardev Bahri Shabdmala at Hinkhoj.com. Not a proper dictionary as such, but I find they often have slang that is harder to find elsewhere. NB: They have an app!Books: Chambers English-Hindi Dictionary *I've never used it, but been told it's good Oxford Hindi-English Dictionary *quite exhaustive Teach Yourself Hindi Dictionary *somewhat small, for neophytes, but useful Urdu Dictionaries:Online:A Dictionary, Hindustani and English by John Shakespear A New Hindustani-English Dictionary by S.W. Fallon A Dictionary of Urdu, classical Hindi, and English by John T. Platts These two are not proper dictionaries, but I often find stuff on them that I can't find elsewhere: Urdu to English DictionaryUrdu WordBooks*NB: All three of these dictionaries include pronunciation, a huge aid in Urdu Firoz-ul-Lughat (also available here) Platt's Urdu Dictionary *I find this easier to use in paper form than online. Somewhat antiquated, doesn't always contain modern terminology Standard Twenty First Century Urdu-English Dictionary *Excellent for modern vocabulary though somewhat small

Hello, I'd consider Fallon's "A New Hindustani-English Dictionary" and Shakespear's "A Dictionary, Hindustani and English" to primarily be Urdu dictionaries, which you will notice by perusing through them. Another dictionary for Hindi is "Shabdkosh" which you can find here.
