BOX OFFICE INDIA'S Top Twenty Stars as of "Today" (end of June 2018).
They include both men and women, and carefully apportion credit among all of the lead actors in each film, as well
as the Directors/Screenwriters/Producers such as Rajkumar Hirani and Sanjay Leela Bhasani. They specifically state
that some credit for SANJU is apportioned to Hirani, and some to Ranbir Kapoor.
I find that this logic might cause BOI to include Hirani, SLB, and other "auteurs" in their Top Twenty(-five) List.
They have not (yet) followed this logic that far.
1-2-3 Salman, Aamir, Shah Rukh Khans. 4 Akshay Kumar. 5 Ranbir Kapoor. 6 Hrithrik Roshan.
7 Tiger Shroff, 8 Varun Dhawan, 9 Ajay Devgn. 10 Ranveer Singh, 11 Alia Bhatt, 12 Depika Padukone.
13 Kareena Kapoor AliKhan, 14 Katrina Kaif, 15 Arjun Kapoor. 16 Anushka Sharma, 17 Shahid Kapoor.
18 John Abraham, 19 Kangana Ranaut, 20 Siddharth Malhotra.
BOI also states that Tiger Shroff and Alia Bhatt made Great Gains this year with Baaghi 2 and Raazi,
so that 2018 began with Ranveer and Depika at 9 and 10. Furthermore, they say that Ranbir would have
been 4th. had they not apportioned so much of SANJU's credit to Hirani.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have my own opinions, which are somewhat different from Box Office India's.
I believe that Aamir Khan is first, "by a margin" as BOI would say.
I have Ajay Devgn virtually tied with Akshay Kumar for fourth and fifth, and would give the advantage to Devgn.
I agree that SANJU brings Ranbir ahead of Hrithrik, but I deem Ranveer to be above both of them: 6, 7, 8.
NOTE: I do *not* deduct credit from Ranveer (or Depika!) and give it to SLB, for doing their work for him.
He chose them, after all, four times, when he could have chosen four different groups of Lead Actors.
Therefore, I deem that the credit SLB gets, also redounds to his chosen Lead Actors!
I deem the same for Hirani and Ranbir.
I do not feel that Tiger has made enough films to be so high on this list (only 4! of which one flopped!).
I also give more credit to Alia than to Varun, and also Arjun, for their collaborations. Same for Kareena-Arjun.
These opinions give me for ninth to twelfth, 9 Alia, 10 Depika, 11 Kareena, 12 Anushka Sharma.
I would give 13 to Varun and 14 to Tiger, with Katrina 15th. That leaves Arjun at 16.
I accept the rest of BOI's list as they have it, but only because Kangana has so many flops among her hits.
