Hi Peanuts fans, here's a one I think maybe I guess the meaning:  I believe it('s just a reversal between "Leather water" and "Water leather" which would mean water-resistant leather, isn't it?

I read it as Lucy using her baseball glove (made of leather) as a cup, to bring water to Charlie Brown. But leather, being organic, affects the taste of the water. Charlie doesn't like it. He finds courteous words to refuse it, instead of the blunt "no, thank you" or the rude "Ew! get that out of here." If the leather had resisted the water better, it would have been less of a problem. Of course, the glove was still dirty; hardly a sanitary container for drinking water. For once, Lucy does not have the advantage.
