Her Youtube stats seem to be developing well. Her last single, Exotic, has reached 20 million views on Youtube. This is just a brief blurb, but I thought it was sort of funny (and instructive!) on the way they cash in on success like this. 20 Million Hits for Priyanka's Exotic SingleIf Priyanka Chopra's Krish 3 has done 500 crore (5 Billion) business, then her single Exotic, sung with international rapper Pitbull, has reached the 2 crore (20 million) hit song mark. This song is number one in India and has been on the Top 20 Billboard list and has made a boom in every direction. After Exotic, Priyanka Chopra's popularity has increased such that several big West Hollywood stores have invited her to launch their milkshake, The Exotic. Priyanka Chopra said about this, "I want to credit such excellent numbers to my fans. I'm overwhelmed by the love and appreciation of the fans". Thanks to her excellent single she has become known as an international artist, too.
And here's the single, if you haven't seen it already:

The way they've been trying to break her into the US market has been so sloppy. She's scored HUGE promo spots, but they haven't done much to follow through with it.
I think her music is fun, nothing groundbreaking in the least, actually most has been total rehashes so far. But like I said it's still fun, and Exotic is a major song on my workout playlists.

Sounds like the lyrics were written in half an hour; her team really let her down on this one.

Sounds like the lyrics were written in half an hour; her team really let her down on this one. Fortunately for her, good lyrics don't seem to be essential these days. Have you heard Beyonce's latest work? Mariah Carey's? She rhymed "holidays" with "hollandaise". I think the catchy-ness of the title line and dance beats are enough to take this song far. Especially since it's used in that Beats by Dr. Dre commercial!

More than autotune (which isn't that heavily used on this latest track, imo) and the lyrics, I don't care for how her voice is buried under five zillion layers of instrumental beats. Maybe it's what's fashionable right now (I don't keep up with Western or East Asian pop music that well, or the parts of Indian pop music that aren't joined at the hip to the film business) but to me it ends up sounding like sloppy mixing that buries what seems to be a fairly emotional rendition by Priyanka. Boost the volume on the vocal track guys, it ain't that hard.

Although it's a cover that her team isn't responsible for writing, I still suspect Dil Bert might be right that the song was only written in half an hour! And definitely, I think stronger lyrics could only have benefited her career, so some criticism is rightly due on that score. Just my opinion, of course!
