Has anyone seen it yet? We are going to slog through a supposed snowpocalypse to see it Sunday. Somehow anyway.

Has anyone seen it yet? We are going to slog through a supposed snowpocalypse to see it Sunday. Somehow anyway. I have yet to see but the movie is getting great response from both the critics (Raja Sen, Rajeev Masand and Anupama Chopra are known to be quite harsh) and the public. I have seen some comments about people who saw it and they seemed to love it. Then again some are SRK's die hard fans. But everyone seems to agree that SRK gave a fantastic performance as both Aryan and Gaurav. Some people found the 2nd part to be lacking and others liked it. Everyone loved the 1rst part.

Just got around to seeing this today. Wonderful film. Easily SRK's best performance(s) in years. Through both Aryan and Gaurav he captured the spectrum of roles he's displayed at various times throughout his career--the jilted madman, the larger-than-life lover, the suave Bollywood superstar. It was gripping, at times very terrifying, and above all, sad. I can't help but think this one will stick with SRK for a long time, as it really hits close to home.
Loved it! It's been a while since an SRK film exceeded my expectations.

from Box Office India: "... the genre of the film ("Thriller") always meant an uphill struggle ... could have succeeded but never was going to be a superstar level hit. The highest-grossing Thriller-film to date is (Akshay's) Holliday at 112 crore net & that says it all."
BOI goes on to say that SRK's thriller Darr did extraordinary business, but it included a love story, good music, and direction by Yash Chopra. It adds that the downside of mega-stardom is that they can't really go out of the Drama, Action, and Love Story genres, which are the only ones to put up blockbuster numbers except for outstanding films.
Finally, BOI "finds it interesting to note that" Salman Khan has *no* Thriller-film in their database.

And a very balanced take on the subject, I thought: Aryan and Gaurav were both flawed characters, which gave the film a somewhat unBollywood feel.

So, Fan is made for fans interested only in the quality of the film - especially non-Indian fans. Box Office India is now predicting that it will earn 85 crores in India - lowest for an SRK film since the inflation got so big! But it will earn more than that overseas, so will make a profit.
