Hi, I'm from Istabul. The first Indian film I have ever watched was Awara and it is the only film that made it big in my country. A lot of people know the title song chorus (but not much else). I don't really remember now how I got into Bollywood (and too lazy to check what I wrote in the other forum). The way I remember is that I liked reading Brian's reviews and when I was in Hong Kong I decided to get a few dvds to watch them. I just picked whatever I remembered from Brian's reviews and ended up with Dil Hai Tumhaara, Taal and Zubeidaa. Then I picked up Dil Se and Khakee from Singapore and started watching when I got home. First thing I realised was that Amitabh Bachchan is an amazing actor. Such screen presence, such talent. I needed to see more. Then I watched Dil Se and thought SRK was amazing too. I got to watch Kuch na Kaho on TV by pure accident and fell for Abhi (and it was dubbed in Turkish so I haven't even heard his amazing speaking voice then). He is my Bollywood favorite and I'm fully aware that he is not a very good actor (capable of turning out good performances depending on the director) nor he is a good dancer. Another actor who I really like and purchase films just because she is in it is Rani Mukherjee.
I'm very fickle in my likes and dislikes but like all three Khans (SRK being my fave), like Katrina, like Ranbir. Do not really care for Shahid, Priyanka, Kareena and Imran. Fave director Vishal Bhardwaj but I do like the opulence and visuals of Karan Johar films. Partial to masala and melo, watch comedies only if my favorite actors are in them (or if they are directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee).
