In the recent election for Bihar Legislature, which elects the state's Chief Minister, the current CM Nitish Kumar won a third term by making a common ticket with his predecessor, Lalu Prasad, and with the Congress Party, and defeating the Bharata Janata Party (BJP) and its allies by a wide margin.

Much was made of this in the Indian press. It's the first 'rebuke' of the Modi government. I understand the BJP still won the most seats of any single party (?) but a majority of seats went to an alliance of regional parties. This is being pointed to as a possible strategy to unseat the current government in the next federal election, though time will tell, and I'm sure, like all governments, they'll have collected some scandals that may play a greater role.
