I won't be home Sunday night (Quantico) and I am tired of missing the very few network shows I like. My husband used to get them, but he is having memory problems. So I am researching DVR's. I talked with someone at Best Buy and wasn't able to get across I do not have cable or satellite. I do have internet on the tv and get Netflix.
Anybody know anything about them and are they hard to use?

DVR's are no more complicated than programming a VCR. If you get internet on your TV and are already using Netflix, I would recommend Hulu for you. It shows current season TV shows. There is a free version, and you may be limited to the last episode or the last 5, depending on the show. The monthly subscription (Hulu Plus) gives you mostly the entire current season of shows. All ABC shows are on there. Hulu Plus has a few movies -- the Criterion collection and a handful of Hindi films. Also, you can watch the latest episode on ABC.com the next day, I'm sure, on your computer. Does your TV have an HDMI port? You could get a Chromecast for about $30 and then "cast" shows from your phone, computer or tablet to your TV using your wi-fi. You can cast EROSNow movies this way, which is why I bought one! ABC's app lets you use the Chromecast to "cast" shows to your TV this way, for example.

Thanks. I looked at free Hulu several years ago and it wasn't impressive at all. I will see what they are doing now. I pay for netflix, it is the only "service" I have and don't want to pay a lot just for tv shows. But I miss castle, Bones, and Grimm and am several seasons behind due to my husband's illness. He is not dying anymore, but it left him with dementia and doesn't remember how he downloaded the shows. I will check out Chromcast too. I don't like watching shows from my computer, but I have a cable I can put it on the tv. I didn't know they shoed them the next day. Thanks!!!
