My story of Bolly involvement -
I became ever so slightly obsessed with Bollywood about 3 years ago. A club I'm involved with (Australian collectors of 12 inch fashion dolls) holds conventions every 2 years for club members to attend. These are held every 2 years and are hosted by members in a different State each time. 2013 was the turn for South Australia to host and we started planning back in 2009 - coming up with a Bollywood theme.
It's all very well to say 'We'll have a Bollywood theme' but we needed to find out more about Bollywood movies so I threw myself in (as one of the organisers) to watch whatever I could and find out more about it. Our multicultural free-to-air TV station just happened to view some Bollywood movies as I was embarking on my mission. The first I saw was Veer-Zaara closely followed by Om Shanti Om which I loved so just had to get the DVD. This led to KKHH and an obsession with SRK . Then I came across the Einthusan site so was able to watch more and more. Eventually I came upon Einthusan on Facebook so was able to chat about and compare movies, get recommendations etc... This in turn led to the previous incarnation of the BollyWhat forum which I joined in October 2013.
Our Bollywood themed convention (Bollywood Daze) was held in August and went wonderfully well. Everyone enjoyed themselves but, as organisers we were exhausted afterwards. If anyone is slightly interested pictures of our weekend can be seen at abcdoll.org/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=358
An important part of our conventions is the exclusive Convention Doll - only available to delegates - and it was my job to prepare these - with some help from other committee members. Again if anyone is slightly interested here's a link to a slideshow I made about the preparation of these.
Our event is over and done but I'm still watching Bollywood more than Hollywood
