Hey guys! I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place, but this place seems pretty slow these days, so forgive me for not being sure on the rules.
I used to come to BollyWhat back when the forums were super active. The founders and staff of the forum have been running this place for what I think is more than 10 years (probably even much longer!). Obviously, things change, and that's to be expected.
But clearly, there's a lack of interest in the forum that probably correlates to the lack of interest in Bollywood films. There's been this strange thing happening where Bollywood films are making the most money they've ever made before, but there are much less enthusiasm about Bollywood films from the people I know. To be clear, I'm talking about Bollywood specifically, not Tollywood, Mollywood, etc.
What do you think is the reason for the lack of interest? I personally think that a significant majority of Bollywood films have lost that charm, that spark. The music is too Westernized, the romance is dead (and replaced with sex sex sex, sheesh!), and the actors of this generation pale in comparison to those of the golden era.
Have you been watching less and less Hindi films over the past few years, and if so, why? What's missing in Bollywood right now?
Hey lima! I wouldn't equate this board being quiet with a general waning of interest in Bollywood. This board went through so many changes of location and administration style that it's understandable if people dropped off. I see more and more Bollywood films added to Netflix, which would only happen if there were people watching.
Personally I find it hard to find time to watch a long film in one sitting these days, and most of the actresses I like have stopped making films or aren't making many of them. If I had more big blocks of time I would watch more films, Bollywood included.
