Hello to you, Peanuts' fans! Let's take a walk in the countryside... W. Shakepseare wrote "Midsummer Night's Dream", in which a fairy tells a poem about hill and dale, and it seems beautiful. But what I can't understand, is: in the very first frame of the strip, why do the feet pity the dale?

Dale can also be a person's (usually a man's) name, so the feet are joking about walking over someone named Dale. There is a similar old joke about the phrase "fire at will": www.cartoonstock.com/cartoonview.asp?catref=jlvn691
