Bollywood ‘Queen’ Kangana Ranaut who is known to play her character to the T, has began to prepare herself for her role in her upcoming film ‘Rangoon’.

The National Award winning actress is heading to the Broadway New York to learn the nuances of a dancer in for the film to be directed by Vishal Bharadwaj.

Kangana is the only leading lady in ‘Rangoon’ where plays the role of dancer Julia. The film was earlier titled ‘Julia’. It is a Broadway style musical and the ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ actress, known to seamlessly become the character she plays will study the fine distinction of the style to bring the Broadway style of life and culture alive in her character.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, ‘Rangoon’ is a love triangle like that of the 1942 Hollywood film ‘Casablanca’ and stars Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles. The film is set against the backdrop of the Second World War.

Vishal had the subject with him for a while and he had been working on the script waiting for the right cast. The director had earlier worked with Saif in ‘Omkara’ and had cast Shahid in ‘Kaminey’ and ‘Haider’. But for Kangana, it is the first time she is working with Vishal.

Vishal and Sajid will be working together for the first time in ‘Rangoon’. “It is my most expensive film to date and will be my most musical,” the director said.

According to Vishal, the film will be an eye-opener on a chapter of history that many people are completely unaware of.

“If you visit a cemetery in Imphal, Manipur, you will see the graves of so many young soldiers who lost their lives in the Second World War. And the dark irony is that Indians were killing Indians because some of these soldiers fought for the British army against Subhash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army in Rangoon,” the director explained.

Kangana Ranaut is making waves in the industry with her stellar performances and her nicely-chosen roles. While Tanu Weds Manu Returns hit a jackpot at the box office, Kangs is now busy prepping up for Vishal Bhardwaj's next- Rangoon which also starts Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor. But we hear that the actress will be playing the role of a Broadway star from the 1940s in the film.

Looks like Kangana Ranaut will be learning a lot of new activities for her forthcoming flick Rangoon as she will be seen playing a Broadway star opposite Shahid Kapoor. Since the character demands a set of activities, the Queen star will have to prepare for a completely new skill-set. For this new role of hers, she will be learning sword-fighting, horse-riding and ballet.

Known to have a perfectionist streak in her films, Kangana is more often than not seen focusing on one movie at a time and hence has already started making herself already for her her forthcoming flick. For lending the scenes with perfect authenticity, Kangana will be undergoing training from special professionals. Sources close to the film unleash that she will be learning martial arts from a professional at an Ashram in Kerala and will be trained for horse riding from an expert in Jaipur.

No wonder with a skill set so perfect as this, Kangana will surely work it just right not only for Rangoon but to play Rani Lakshmi Bai just as skillfully.

Confirming the same Kangana said: “Dolly(Ahluwalia) is designing my look. It will have a very vintage feel given that the movie is era-specific. My look will be similar to Marilyn Monroe’s style where I will sport waves in my hair and wear deep necked outfits. Since it’s a larger than life kind of a role, it will be very glamorous.”
