But maybe we can have her be good with computers herself, rather than relying on the stock nerdy friend-who-is-male? I'm sure we could still find something for her love interest to do.

Yeah, that's the kind of thing I would be on board with: you have a talented and popular young woman, who's legally of age and not subject to child labor laws, but who can play teenagers convincingly...this doesn't happen every day, and you should be making the most of that unusual gift rather than stuffing her into random romcoms opposite men in their thirties.

Better be careful ... that's what they did to Judy Garland! A grown woman playing teenage girls can stunt her growth, no matter how good the movies made. Would a drug-free Garland, still alive and singing, be worth the cancellation of "Meet Me In Saint Louis?" Never a Trolley Song, but Judy's interpretation of a dozen score of post-1970 scores! Me, I vote YES. Dancelover Yeah, that's the kind of thing I would be on board with: you have a talented and popular young woman, who's legally of age and not subject to child labor laws, but who can play teenagers convincingly...this doesn't happen every day, and you should be making the most of that unusual gift rather than stuffing her into random romcoms opposite men in their thirties.

Looking back at Aspiring's post, I believe that he used both tropes: first the computer newbie girl learns from nerdy-boy; then she gets so good that she invents a Killer App! (note: spellcheck rejected Aap & Ap, then accepted App.) Seems to me, for this story, if she is a computer maven at the beginning, it's no surprise that she is one at the climax. I must Like Aspiring's plot here. Dancelover But maybe we can have her be good with computers herself, rather than relying on the stock nerdy friend-who-is-male? I'm sure we could still find something for her love interest to do.

That poster sady posted today is a little better, but they still look quite mismatched.
I have a baby face myself, and if I was an actress, I'd be pretty selective of who my co-stars were. It ceases to be cute when the creep factor comes in.

Ack. Every time I started to get into the groove of what looks like a pretty fun and certainly lavish romcom, we get Random Bawdy Scene With Lolita Bhatt. I need some kind of fancy hardware from either Star Trek or Fringe so I can jump into that alternate universe where this stars Parineeti (who can look like a grownup, as seen in Kill Dill) instead. Mind you, I disliked the trailer for Queen, and was underwhelmed by the movie when I saw it, so what do I know? PS: Shahid is awesome in the Shaandaar trailer.

PS: Shahid is awesome in the Shaandaar trailer. Isn't he though? I think this looks like it could be a lot of fun. I like the cast-- even the Dadi, though I don't remember her name, I remember seeing and liking before. I can see that Alia and Shahid don't automatically look the best as a match, but I think they could make it work. But for some reason I'm finding it very weird when I think that Shahid's real life wife is probably pretty close to Alia's age. This is why I shouldn't pay attention to actors' actual lives!!

Alia did predict that Parineeti (not Anushka Sharma) would be her Biggest Rival. Maybe she was thinking of your comments when she said it! Dancelover [snip - d] I need [snip] so I can jump into that alternate universe where this stars Parineeti (who can look like a grownup, as seen in Kill Dill) instead.

Both the songs so far have this inherent vulgarity about them that I find a bit unsettling - the objectification of the background dancers is quite disappointing coming from a director like Vikas Behl who came up with a strong female-centric film like Queen.

When are background dancers *not* objectified? In "Chaibaiya" from Saawatha (Ranbir & Sonam debut), Rani Mukerji acknowledges and communicates with her backup dancers. That is the only case I can think of offhand. Otherwise they are part of the background, backing up the Lead. Dancelover replying to af, who had said: "... the objectification of the background dancers is quite disappointing ..."
