This is the NDTV interview where she discussed it: 'I was abused as a child': Kalki Koechlin
And here's an article by the Times of India:
I was sexually abused as a child: Kalki Koechlin
Actress Kalki Koechlin spoke to NDTV about being sexually abused as a child.
Kalki revealed that she didn't want to talk about it on a public platform. She said that a revelation like that just becomes like a "shocking headline" but somebody "who has gone through CSA (child sexual abuse) is not a headline."
Without giving out details of her own experience, Kalki said, "The reason you haven't heard about it is that I don't like to talk about it. For me, it's not a one day headline, it's something that's a reality I have lived with for a long time. Many of us have gone through it and most of the people that I know, especially close friends of mine who are women, have gone through some form of CSA (child sexual abuse). It's just so out there, so much of it that I think it's not something that should be ignored."
Kalki quoted statistics that 53 percent of children in India had been sexually abused and highlighted the gap in proper sexual education in schools. However, Kalki dismissed the idea of only talking about the issue on a public platform. "I don't think public platform is the only way to talk about CSA, I think sometimes it's important to speak about it, break the silence; other times it's important to have a place to go to where you can trust somebody whether it be a psychiatrist, a family member, or a social set-up, an organization which helps when you talk about these things. The problem is we don't have these trusted areas to go."
Talking about never coming out in the open about her past experience, Kalki said, "The problem about talking about it publicly is there's also the danger, it just becomes a shocking headline and somebody who has gone through CSA is not a headline, that's a reality they have lived with all of their life."
Earlier, Kalki spoke at a conference on child sexual abuse organised by actor Rahul Bose's NGO H.E.A.L. Kalki, had made headlines some time back for her spectacular monologue on Women's Day. Kalki has been one of the few celebrities who have been vocal about women's issues and had also starred in a satirical video about violence against women.
Kalki was last seen in the film 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'.
It seems Anurag Kashyap has stated that he also experience childhood sexual abuse. There's a blurb here about it:
Anurag Kashyap- Actress Kalki Koechlin's recently separated husband Anurag Kashyap has also been a victim of the same as a child. Anurag Kashyap confessed about being sexually abused as a child. Anurag confessed that he was sexually abused for 11 years long years continuously when he was small. In an interview sometime back the prolific filmmaker Anurag said that he had forgiven the man who abused him. He said, "I met him after many years. He wasn't some dirty old man. He was 22 when he abused me. He was guilt-ridden when we met. I decided to put the whole nightmare behind me and move on. But it wasn't easy. I came to Mumbai brimming with angst, bitterness and a sense of violation and isolation. Thanks to the love of my life, Kalki Koechlin, I am completely cured of my acrimony." Even though the couple has taken time off each other, their pain still connects them.
