Guys, you've been so helpful here, giving detailed answers to all the Hindi related questions! This place feels like the most useful corner for Hindi learners So, I've been trying to read Hindi magazines and have come across this word (underlined in the picture). I can't identify the first ligature and the meaning of this word Can you help me with this one?

Hi Larouge! I can tell you the word is 'dwaaraa'. Perhaps the conjunct that is formed by the combination of द and व is the problem? It's relatively rare. The word means, 'by the means of'. e.g. is forum ke dwaara aapko pataa chalaa ki us shabd ka matlab kya hai इस फोरम के द्वारा आपको पता चला कि उस शब्द का मतलब क्या है

Thank you, James! द्वारा! Yes, the conjunction was the problem! It was not in my Great Book of Hindi Ligatures... Next time I can't read a word, I'll try all kinds of possible combinations on my keyboard

That sounds a little laborious, Larouge! If it helps you to remember things, by all means, but otherwise, I'm only a post away. How are you finding Femina, by the way? I've never read it, though I've seen it in shops here and there.
