This is a remake of a 1980s movie about three older men who go on vacation and end up pursuing an attractive young woman (Rati Agnihotri), who in turn is conning them with the help of the old goats' cabbie, who is also her boyfriend (guest appearance by Mithun Chakraborty). I don't see how you get a non-distasteful comedy out of that premise, even in the 80s with a somewhat pretentious director like Basu Chatterjee involved, and I pretty much sighed and shook my head when it was announced about six-eight months back that a schlocky b-movie director was remaking the story with Anupam Kher and Paresh Rawal as two of the older men, Nargis Fakhri as the young woman, and Akki as producer/guest star, in a role vaguely corresponding to Mithun's.
In the meantime, Tigmanshu Dhulia, who's not the greatest director ever but does seem to know a few things about how men try to exploit women and how women retaliate (see, Sahib Biwi aur Gangster), rewrote the script from the ground up, recasting Akki's character as a movie star in the process, the schlocky director bailed and was replaced by the Tere Bin Laden director, who I am told is relatively good, and I became resigned to the fact that at least Nargis was a grown woman in her mid-thirties which would reduce the squick factor all the way around. But the delays-mostly caused by Nargis's Hindi and dancing lessons and schedule conflicts-also cost the film Paresh, who had to leave due to schedule conflicts.
Latest news is that Nargis, after boasting about the project and how it was going to start in April and how pleased she was to be working on it, asked for a last minute delay so she could appear in a Jason Statham movie. She was dropped from the movie, and they're now in negotiations with Shruti Haasan (currently working on Gabbar) or Shraddha Kapoor. (Which kind of indicates the story's probably not as raunchy as it could be; Shraddha's parents are very protective of her image). Akshay's supposedly pretty annoyed with Nargis-time management is one of the few things he hold sacred, and the fact that he's already inconvenienced an old friend like Paresh for Nargis's sake is probably contributing to the grumpiness.
ETA: as of April 12, 2014, Lisa Haydon has apparently accepted the role of the female lead; she said something in an interview a couple weeks about being open to glamour roles but only if they gave her some room to develop the character, so I guess that's a positive sign.
