Wazir - It started off really well then at some point it got a bit over the top for me; Farhan is not a very good actor; this is my least favourite performance out of the last three films that I’ve seen with Amitabh Bachchan (he was by no means bad -after all this is Amitabh Bachchan we’re talking about - his performance was solid but not as good as Teen or Shamitabh); Neil Nitin Mukesh was craaaaaaaaaaaaazy but it worked for the part; I guessed part of the story before the reveal. Nevertheless, the film was enjoyable - not great but highly watchable.

Force 2 with John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha. Quite a bit on the bloody and violent side, but not bad, not bad at all.
Bang Bang with Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. Still not a Katrina fan, but she played naïve very well. And Hrithik, what can I say but that man is still beautiful! I really liked the song Tu Meri and he can really move. The plot got a bit confusing sometimes and I had a hard time keeping the bad guys and good guys straight. Very satisfying climax though. Very satisfying indeed. I just love it when the villain gets back what he gives.

Rangoon. MrsB and I really liked this. I disagree with its glorification of the Indian National Army but, watched purely as a love triangle set against the background of the war and the fight for independence, with all the consequent conflicting loyalties, it's enjoyable film. Recommended, but don't go in expecting another Omkara or Haider.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania. This was fun, chiefly because Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt are beguiling leads who have great chemistry. The supporting cast is decent and, while the character motivations are not completely convincing, the film's heart is definitely in the right place. An above-average timepass.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil - Parts of this I liked and parts I didn’t. In the end I was left with nothing; I wasn’t happy or sad, I didn’t have that feel-good feeling I have at the end of a lot of movies - nothing; just me wondering if that was it. I didn’t like Ranbir’s character - the guy was having huge hissy fits just ‘cause the girl he loved didn’t love him like he wanted - get over it dude. I thought he was quite mean to someone he professed to love. I didn’t know SRK had the briefest of brief cameos. I swear my heart almost lept out of my chest for joy the second I saw him. I usually like Aish and I liked her here as well. I loved her scene with SRK though I disagree with what he said about unrequited love. I also liked Anoushka. I thought that Manish Malohtra did a good job with Anoushka’s clothes; I liked most of her outfits - her wedding outfits especially were to die for - but I felt that with Aish he just picked clothes that she likes - I’ve seen pictures of her wearing similar outfits in her real life plus I hated the boots she was wearing. Fawad Khan didn’t really have much to do other than look pretty and he did look pretty. Lastly, I loved Lisa Haydon as the gold-digging bimbo - she was so funny. I also liked the references to other movies and the recreation of the sari scenes on the mountains.

Koi Mil Gaya – I’d never seen this one and since I have a new channel, Heera, on Amazon Prime I finally sat and watched it. It was cute, similar in a way to ET but I liked it a lot. So then….
Krissh – I’d never seen this one either but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Ek Vivah….Aisa Bhi with Sonu Sood. Slower paced than most of his current works with no action but very sweet. Two musicians fall in love and on their engagement day her father dies, leaving her to raise a younger brother and sister. So of course, she cancels the wedding. I understand it didn’t do well at the box office. Shame.
Theri – Tamil with Vijay. Very much an action film but I liked it too. A good cop irritates the wrong crook, who proceeds to kill the cop’s family. He manages to save his newborn daughter and since everyone thinks he’s dead in the explosion of his home, he goes away to raise her. But, as usual the crooks find out and are on his tail again to finish what they started.

Dear Zindagi - I really liked this one. I enjoyed it a lot (admittedly, I was teary-eyed in a few scenes). Alia, SRK, Kunal Kapoor, the friends, the parents, the brother, the aunt and uncle all were good.

Phillauri - saw this with a friend and we both liked it - thought it was a sweet movie although my friend would have liked some dancing in it.
I have been binge-watching The Good Wife on Netflix so haven't seen much of anything else lately. I'm nearly at the end of season 5 so the end is in sight.

Befikre - I quite enjoyed this one. I thought that both Vani and Ranveer were very good - some of thier expressions were excellent - and I also liked their chemistry which was, at times, romantic and, at times, friendly and playful. All through the film I kept thinking that Vaani looks like someone but I couldn’t remember who. I thought that Ranveer looked great in the blue suit unfortunately, the costume designer committed the cardinal sin of having Ranveer wear sweatpants as trousers! I also liked Vaani’s long, blue, lacy dress. Just a small thing that I noticed. In the opening song with the couples kissing, I noticed that some of the couples were women kissing but there were no couples of men kissing. {Click to view!} When Shyra and Daram split up, I hated (hated) that he called her a slut. When Daram was trying to break up Shyra and Anay’s wedding, I, again, hated that he used the fact that she’s slept with a lot of men (a lot of men according to him - we don’t know how many men she’s slept with; we only know that she’s slept with him; not that it makes any difference if she’s slept with every man in Paris or with one) as a reason for Anay to leave her. Honestly in thsi day and age shaming women for having sexual desires - no, no, no. Ok he did appologise but it was till not cool.

Panchakshari (Telegu) - The main reason I saw this is is Anushka Shetty whom I absolutely love; she did not disappoint - this was definitely her movie and she was easily head and shoulders above everyone else. The story, I thought, was good; the supporting actors were fine but the film was only so-so maybe it was the direction? I don’t know - I didn’t like the pace and, at times, it was too much (the actress who played villain’s wife had these huge eyes and she would open them very wide; she looked almost orgasmic everytime there was a killing and, although this was over the top, she was one of the good things about ths film). And to top it all off, the ending was incomplete - one storyline was concluded but I was left with a lot of questions afterwards. It could have been so much better than it was.
Rewatched Dilwale. I think I just wanted some SRK and Kajol magic and Dilwale, although not a masterpiece, is extremely pleasant.

Nearly a month since I last noted what I had watched since Phillauri
In no particular order - Moh Maya Money - with Ranvir Shorey. Real Estate guy tries to make money fast and it all goes horribly wrong The Ghazi Attack Meerabai Not Out Maine Pyar Kiya Mother India (finally) Running Shaadi Barah Aana Jhankaar Beats Sardaarji 2 (preferred the first Sardaarji) Salaakhen
And I also set myself a quest - to watch all SRK movies in chronological order (many will be re-watches)
So far I have ticked the following off the list - In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones Deewana Chamatkar Dil Aashna Hai
I think that has made up for the weeks when I was glued to The Good Wife.

Shree 420 - Loved it. The cynical part of me says that nothing has changed. Raj Kapoor, who I think was handsome and charming, managed to simultaneously remind me of Clark Gable (probably because of the moustache) and Charlie Chaplin’s tramp (this last one is not surprising since his character was based on Charlie Chaplin’s tramp). I noticed that both Nargis’ and Nadira’s names came first in the titles - it’s not just SRK who puts the leading ladies’ names first. I thought that all the actors were good. I really like the Raj Kapoor/Nargis pairing. Lovely film.

Mirzya - I was looking forward to this when I saw the trailer ‘cause it looked like exactly my kind of movie; unfortunately, it was just ok. I didn’t like some of the plot points; some of them are in the original Punjabi folk tale that this movie is based on so I guess I can live with them though grudgingly so. I hated the plot device they used in order to split up Monish and Soochi - ok they had to split up but the writer could have come up with a different reason. The lead actress had this icy, expressionless stare and she had no expressions on her face; I thought she was quite robotic and stiff plus she had absolutely no chemistry with Harshvardhan Kapooor. The actor who played her father was also bad as was the CGI. Now for the things I liked: I liked how the songs were interspersed in the story and how the movie began with a song which served as an introduction to the narrative and ended with a song which served as a conclusion; the dancing - including the dancing to one of the songs which had a modern/contemporary type of feeling to it that I haven’t seen in Indian films before; the dancers’ costumes, the wedding outfits, and the men’s turbans; visually, it’s a very pretty film; Harshvardhan Kapooor - he has nice, expressive eyes and is very nice to look at even if he is quite scruffy; the actress who plays Zeenat - she was very natural, as was the boy who played her son, and she had way more chemistry with Harshvardhan Kapooor than the lead actress; I also liked the actors who played Karan and the servant. Not a bad movie but it could have been better.
