I did not find an entry in Ipcoming Films to cross-reference. Marriage Story, "told from the husband's PoV" per www.bollywoodnewsworld.com which gives it 4 stars. http://www.boxofficeindia.com calls it "average opening, 25-30% ocupancy, better than Highway or Hasee Toh Phasee." Also "looks to collect at premium multiplexes only." D

BoxOfficeIndia says it earned 5.5 crores on Friday. That was the third highest First Day in 2014 (Jai Ho, Gunday) but still disappointing for a film costing 40 CR. Has SKSE had such a limited release worldwide that there is not one review up yet on this board? Anyway, I went for it yesterday expecting a Vidya-Farhan fest. And indeed that's what it was through the breezy, fun-filled, naughty first half. These two have great onscreen camaraderie and that's really what pulls the movie together. Any other pair less comfortable in their skins would have exposed the weaknesses of the screenplay. Even they however -with some help from the savvy cheater Ram Kapoor - just about manage to keep their grip over the wobbly second half which suddenly turns all glum and worse, preachy. Bollywood still has to figure out how to keep the spirit of the romcom alive post interval.
As much as I am in total admiration of Vidya's couldn't-care-less attitude towards the industry's obsession with size zero, there were times when I couldn't help wincing at her wardrobe. A stray thought that flitted past my mind during one of the film's stagnant moments was: "Wouldn't she make a great Bollywood Bridget Jones ?"
Watch if you are a Vidya/Farhan fan (I am, I confess)but if SKSE isn't playing in your town, you haven't missed all that much.

We saw it last weekend. I didn't like it enough to recommend, but didn't want to put people off, so haven't written anything before. In spite of liking both leads, and thinking they did their best with the material, the film just did not work for me. MrsB liked the first half, but thought it fell apart in the second.
I agree on Vidya's wardrobe. She can look amazing, but the high-waisted dresses in this film do nothing for her.

No, we have it here in several theatres in Toronto, Poornima. I saw it last night and have to say I basically felt the same as you and MrsB and MrB. I enjoyed the first half much more than the second. All the domestic fighting scenes did not do much to entertain me. I would probably say watch it on DVD, there's no reason to rush to the theatres for it, and I say that as a fan of Vidya's work.

BoxOfficeIndia has now called Shaadi ke Side Effects a "Flop," but less of a Flop than Dedh Ishqiya (which was not that much of one). This still makes SkSE the *fifth-best* among films they have rated so far, pushing DI down to sixth. Below it are twenty films rated "Disasters." www.koimoi.com rates it "Average" = broke even. D
