From Indian Express: "Dolly Ki Doli is a woman centric quirky drama where Sonam plays a bindaas North Indian girl Dolly and will be accompanied by three other male co-stars who are yet to be finalized. Arbaaz, who is excited about this new association, recently also revealed that Sonam is the only one who he believes will do justice to this character. Directed by Abhishek Dongra, Dolly Ki Doli is slated to go on floors in January 2014 and Arbaaz has plans to release the film by the end of 2014." Not sure what to make of Sonam working with Arbaaz Khan. I also don't think outgoing, bubbly characters like the ones Rani Mukherjee used to specialize in are Sonam's forte, but I'm willing to wait and see.

It's funny how the vast majority of Sonam's films released to date involve men trying to come to terms with the fact that they can't have her (or in the case of Abhay in Aisha, think they can't have her)-I have a hunch that something of the kind is going on with this one too. I've seen comments on Dabanng 2 that suggested Arbaaz was better at "characters just hanging out" than he was at the crime/action masala stuff, so this might play to his strengths.
Agree with you that Sonam is not precisely bubbly. There's a line in Sense and Sensibility where the elder, steadier sister says of the Young Romantic of the Family (thank heavens for searchable online texts): "I should hardly call her a lively girl; she is very earnest, very eager in all she does -- sometimes talks a great deal and always with animation -- but she is not often really merry." That reminds me of Sonam. (Uh, Rajiv Menon, would you care to come up north and do a remake of your last feature film? I'm sure Anil would gladly bankroll it...)

As per TOI, Pulkit Samrat and Rajkummar Rao are playing the male leads in the film.

After checking out the trailer in the article ; I'm wishing Dolly Ki Doli is a copy and paste lol. More seriously it wouldn't be so bad if the movie was inspiref from this one. I would be an interesting avatar for Sonam. The girl in the trailer is such a badass... Still producers should begin becoming more responsible and respectful of others products. They, themselves, don't like when their movies are copied without their consent.

Kinda had this written off as just another venue for Sonam to play dress up (which it still may be) but hey, it looks like a lot of fun! I found myself smiling throughout most of the trailer. And Sonam does look absolutely killer.

Well, I like the premise, and Sonam is in rare form (so are Malaika and Evil Fiance From Queen)...but...I dunno. The trailer to me has the same affable but schlocky, slightly tone-deaf quality that the Khoobsurat promos had. Great clothes though, which is an area where I felt Khoobsurat kind of fell down.

Hello! Arbaaz Khan Productions have hired Sonam!
Does this mean that Salman Khan will work for Rhea Kapoor?

PHATTE TAK NACHNA
First song is out!
It looks like a riot. I'm glad Sonam gets to dance (which she rarely does in her movies)

Regarding the issue of plagiarism : linkArbaaz Khan And Sonam Kapoor's DKD A Remake Of R.S.V.P.? The Real Truth By Joginder Tuteja, MovieTalkies.com, 23 December 2014 09:46 AM IST Arbaaz Khan is flabbergasted. Ever since the promo of his third production Dolly Ki Doli went online (and fetched some very good response for itself), some mischief mongers started spreading the rumor that the film is a copy of Punjabi film R.S.V.P. [Ronde Sare Vyah Picho]. As has turned out though, the script of Sonam Kapoor starrer was registered almost three years ago (in January 2012) whereas the Neeru Bajwa starrer film was released in October 2013. "The only similarity between the two films is that the leading lady dupes her groom, and that's about it. Beyond that there is absolutely nothing similar between the two films," informs our source, "As a matter of fact, even though the writer of R.S.V.P., Ved Prakash, felt initially that Dolly Ki Doli has been flicked from the work that he had put together, he was pretty content after being made aware of the core of the Arbaaz Khan production." In R.S.V.P., Neeru Bajwa does dupe her groom (Harish Verma) but has a gradual change of heart when latter hunts for her and brings her back into the family. On the other hand in Dolly Ki Doli, Sonam Kapoor is shown as a serial con girl who takes Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma and Pulkit Samrat for a royal ride. "I don't know where this is coming from, especially after Ved Prakash met me and I explained how ours was a completely new and original script while being registered way back in January 2012," fires away Arbaaz, "There is no room for speculation here. Just because the leading lady is a con artist doesn't make two films just the same. Ved too seemed to have agreed to the details I shared with him. He understands there is nothing similar between the two films." When contacted, Ved Prakash too refuted all the speculations. He said, "I met Arbaaz bhai and he assured me that there were no similarities between the two films. He even showed me the proof of beginning work on his film way back in 2012. I was content with the evidence provided by him and was content Dolly Ki Doli was not a remake of R.S.V.P.," says Ved. Now that should settle it once for and all! - See more at: www.movietalkies.com/news/27015/arbaaz-khan-and-sonam-kapoors-dkd-a-remake-of-rsvp?-the-real-truth#sthash.evRIB0y8.dpuf

There was a blind item on Box Office India a while back claiming that some actor-producer had to buy off the makers of a regional film due to the similarities with his home production, so I assume that's what Arbaaz is responding to. Given how derivative Bollywood can be I don't really see what the big deal is.
