OK, this seems like a much lighter version of the great French film (on my keeper shelf) called Love Me If You Dare with Marion Cotillard. Need to watch it again later and process it more. Ranveer looks pretty hilarious and Vaani looks really promising (I liked her in Shuddh Desi Romance). I do suspect that the whole look at these two wild and crazy kids in love doing racy things will be a little forced and cheesy, especially because director Aditya Chopra is now firmly in the uncle category and, let's be honest, never that hip to begin with...<ducking to avoid DDLJ fans throwing things>
(Added after googling first reactions)...looks like others see the resemblance to Love Me If You Dare, too. It doesn't really bother me that Bollywood likes remakes (Hollywood and other world cinemas do it all the time too), but when it's so obvious and not credited or the director doesn't even admit the influence that can really bother me. It will be interesting to see if Aditya Chopra gets asked about it during promotions.

Indeed, it's as if Aditya watched some movies an decided to patch them up (Love Me If You Dare, Last Tango in Paris, friends with benefits tropes Sex Friends and Friends with Benefits...) let's hope Aditya won't forget to credit his inspiration in the movie's credits. There was a time when they could get away with lifting entire movies in Bollywood. But nowadays, with Internet, people are aware of what's being done so it's borderline tasteless to do such things when most often than not the original movie is better. I wonder if this movie will manage to survive the censor board cissors. And even then, will it manage to find its public? The trailer is being bashed already (people are saying it's sleazy, criticising Vaani's face -jaw, and Ranveer red slip)

As much as I can't deny that I think Ranveer looks pretty damn hot in this one and Vaani's bikini body is impressive, the script does look like it may come across as sleazy and juvenile, instead of sexy and fun. Haven't seen the criticisms of Vaani's face yet...that seems a bit cruel. I think she has a striking bone structure almost like a Julia Roberts look.

I think Vaani's problem is that she may have undergone plastic surgery since SDR. But indeed it's cruel to say such things. She looked good in SDR but something is off now. It's sad because if this movie flops I wonder what she'll do. Will YRTalent decide it's best she takes another hiatus ? Will she get top projects ? Her rivals in the agency being Anushka and Parineeti atm. I would say Kriti Sanon is closer in looks to Julia than Vaani is. Vaani has a stronger bone structure and body built. She seems taller too.

Now I see what you mean after looking at old pictures from SDR time. Yes, she does have a distinctly plastic look now in comparison just like Katrina Kaif but I'm hoping it's just makeup and hair that aren't doing her any favors. Why do they do this to themselves?! Sonam's recent essay I thought was so powerful, especially her emphasis on learning to love your flaws. I do appreciate that Vaani has a strong-looking healthy body type and as much as I dislike all the fuss about bikini scenes, from a straight women's perspective, she really rocked that look in the trailer. Most actresses look like they tried to starve themselves or look so uncomfortable that it makes the scene hard to watch (Alia Bhatt in Shaandaar). Kriti Sanon is quite pretty but has yet to leave an impression on me as an actress...she was so forgettable in Dilwale.

It was Aditya Chopra who put into DDLJ the idea that men ought to keep the K. C. fast along with their women! ::throws nerf ball at filmilibrarian:: Dancelover [snip - d] director Aditya Chopra is now firmly in the uncle category and, let's be honest, never that hip to begin with...<ducking to avoid DDLJ fans throwing things> [snip]

Kriti Sanon is quite pretty but has yet to leave an impression on me as an actress...she was so forgettable in Dilwale. YRTalent must have a hand in this. Anushka and Parineeti who are managed by the same agency also underwent body changes. Anushka's lips and Parineeti's weight loss. Aditya is obsessed with bikini/kiss scenes so I'm not surprised he'd have the girls do all kind of things to fit his idea of perfection. Kriti is indeed unimpressive but she knows how to choose her projects and still be there. I don't know how she does it but having a SRKajol starrer as her second film in the industry is quite something. To be fair Dilwale was a bad movie imo and while Varun was saddle with a portion of the comic angle, Kriti had nothing to do. I hope it'll be possible for Vaani to have more work and that she'll refrain from doing too much surgeries that will alter her face too much. She's been receiving some flak on Twitter already... it was actually closer to bullying than anything.

Pretty excited about this one, but having seen the song and the trailer I'm a little apprehensive about Vaani's character. (But not Vaani herself, and I cannot understand all the negativity she's getting online). That is, that she will be one of those "free spirit" characters like Anushka's in Jab Tak Hai Jaan whose characterization is limited to booty shorts (and non-traditional dyed hair, in Vaani's case). I guess I'm just thinking this because of the booty shorts in the song, but it would fit with the plot and, of course, it's Aditya Chopra. I could barely make it through JTHJ and I really like Anushka. Let's hope it's more BBB Aditya and less JTHJ Aditya.
