Having watched several films, I now know what I like. But I need help finding them. I haven't watched or looked for any films for two years. So I really need your help! I'm not looking for specific titles but I've made a list below to explain what kind of film I want. I'm looking for about three films to start with. These films don't have to tick all of the boxes.
- Indian women's fashion - my most favourite dress is the bridal and courtesan lehenga choli in different colours. I absolutely love the lehenga skirt and dupatta that covers the hair. My second favourite is the Lehenga Sari & normal Sari.
- Dancing - I want to see the ladies dance in those beautiful colourful dresses! I love seeing how the lehenga skirt moves.
- Actors/Actresses - I want to see familiar faces. Celebs who were born in the 70's and 80's, who started acting in the 90's and then continued throughout the 00's. I dislike Salman Khan's acting unless he's playing a shy romantic type. Sonali Bendre is a hit & miss too. I think she's very pretty and a lovely dancer but for me she's so much better at playing a shy romantic type.
- Glitz & Glamour - at least one rich family with a glamourous mansion or palace
- Genre and timings - Because I like the visual dancing and more than three musical numbers in a film, I don't mind watching for three hours. The story quality is important. I like romantic comedies, romance dramas, historical dramas with romance, cross-cultural dramas & family dramas/comedies or a mixture.
- Locations - Fashion Parade aside, I don't mind if it's set in England or America. I liked the films; Salaam-e-Ishq, My Name is Khan, English Vinglish and Pardes. But including the fashion parade, I'd say India only. I loved Devdas, K3G, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Hum Saath Saath Hain & Umrao Jaan (remake). I've seen Jodhaa Akbar but I didn't grip me and there wasn't any dancing that I liked. I've also seen Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.
UPDATE! Modified Requests- Fashion Parade Events (Read indian women's fashion above first) - at weddings, engagement parties, mehendi ceremonies, religious ceremonies, big dance numbers, etc. I'm not bothered what they wear everyday. The Lehenga's to me are dresses fit for a princess, no matter what noble/royal/servant title the heroine or her sisters have in the film. My favourite colours are Purple and Pink. Red, white, yellow, black, blue, aqua and cool or bright green are in the middle group. My least favourite colours are orange, dark green, grey and brown.
- Genre - I get sick of the same genre with Hindi films. I do like romantic comedies but they're excessive. Bring on the folktales with action/adventure, fantasy, family drama (meaning a family clashing or a family tragedy within the film). Just keep away from pure comedies (I don't understand Indian humour) and horror (they can't do horror, it's boring). Crime dramas are good, I have no problem with revenge/mafia films as long as they aren't sexist or completely sexist. For example, I liked Market with Manisha Koirala and dark nitty gritty films about industries - I liked Fashion.
- Actresses/Actors and Dancers - my favourite actresses are Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Kajol, Manisha Koirala, Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. My favourite dancers are Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, Sonali Bendre, Karishma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar, Tabu, Sushmita Sen, Neha Dubey and Malaika Arora. My favourite actors are Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Salman Khan.
- Location: Beautiful places if set in India or other foreign countries (to me). If set in cities of America or England, I don't expect the above all the time.
- Glitz and Glamour: I love Indian Weddings and Engagement Parties. I'd love to see at least one take place in each film. If that's possible?
