roadsandkingdoms.com/2014/wrath-of-the-bollywood-superfans/The page must have some coding that prohibits copying/pasting, because I was unable to copy and paste the article here. This is an interesting article about the backlash a GQ writer got from a seemingly non-controversial piece he wrote on Shahid Kapoor.

As someone who's often guilty of overly complicated prose myself, I think part of the problem is that he committed some of that, and it went over the heads of Shahid's fandom. I mean here's a line he quotes from his original piece: “What I really want out of this meeting is to decode the online bollocks dipped in bullshit that have fused into a public persona akin to this: Shahid Kapoor is the most arrogant, difficult, time-wasting, womanizing, talented egomaniac in Bollywood.”*
It means that the writer thinks Shahid has a reputation for being a major jerk, and the writer also believes that reputation is surely unjustified and based on a few incidents or personality quirks that have been blown way out of proportion, and he wants to find out what those quirks are. But, at least out of context, it takes a lot of parsing to get there.
Responding to the bashing, although very understandable, was probably unwise.
I'm surprised he has not encountered this before, because almost any of the twitter fandoms of major male stars (and several of the female ones) are a bloodthirsty and immature lot, extremely thin-skinned about any alleged insult to their hero or heroine.
I find myself wondering who the Indian Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are.

I find myself wondering who the Indian Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are. I guess Saif and Kareena, as he fancies himself as a guitarist. (My Twitter id is unknown to most people so I need not fear the #saifanatics after that remark.)
