Note: in the thread title "etc" really stands for "lots of male cannon fodder." I'm not really sure about this movie! The performances were very strong, the cinematography was wonderful, and Priyanka was amazing in this. She was really a powerhouse. But maybe my definition of "black comedy" is slightly different from Bhardwaj's. This seemed to me to be a very dark, intense thriller lightened occasionally by some humor, and striking an odd note here and there because it seemed slightly tonally off. It didn't seem to be, as Priyanka described it in an interview, "ek funny movie." What do you all think? Her first husband and her Irrfan husband were especially disturbing. Maybe Bhardwaj is just so much better at dark and intense than he is at comedy that it threw the balance off for me. On a different note, I loved the Hindi song done to the Russian tune.

We loved this one. My sister and I have seen it three times. I thought it was a great black comedy. I thought the end was brilliant.

I love this movie! The movie that made me a PC fan. She was fan-freaking-tasic and it's so deeply wicked. I like how it didn't build up the husbands, I.e. each husband being worse than the last. She had evil husbands, some SOBs, and some poor saps. She wasn't simply a women scored who had her reasons, she was a full blown serial killer.

I'd love to hear (read) specifics about what you like about it! The end is brilliant, isn't it? And I must admit I didn't see it coming-- it was a great reversal for me. It also seemed to be a subtle but sharp dig at Christianity, and I wonder if that was intended or just kind of ended up happening as they shaped the story they were telling.

I think you got a great intro to Priyanka. The first movie I saw PC in was Fashion, which I found to be such a disappointing mess of a movie that it hardly registered whether Priyanka had done a good job or not. I agree about the differences in her husbands. I'm just noticing this now, but I actually found the fate of Keemat, who was the most harmless and innocent of her husbands, to be the funniest. Hmmmm... interesting. But that cut directly from wedding to funeral, and then working a short flashback explanatory scene in, was brilliant. PC's expression when she just kind of rolls his limp body off of her reaching for the ashtray is priceless.
