Xas: I'm a little surprised at the Shortcut Romeo/Nautanki Sala/Special 26 songs cracking the list, but all the others were things I heard of being pretty popular at the time.
Dancelover: surprised to see the soundtracks for OUATIMD, Mere Dad ki Maruti, and Besharam rated that highly.

I was listening to an 'end of year best of' type thing with Raj and Pablo on BBC Asian Network, and a number of the songs featured there. Unfortunately most of them - the much-vaunted Tum Hi Ho, included - bored me to tears. :/ As for OUATIMD, I watched that last night and thought the soundtrack was the best part of the movie, especially Tayyab Ali which I replayed several times. So much so, that I've put the soundtrack on my wishlist.

Oh, I like the OUATIMD soundtrack too (along with Mujh Mein Tu and the Shortcut Romeo songs I've heard), I just had the impression none of them exactly burned up the charts. Tayyab Ali originated in the 1970s film Amar Akbar Anthony; the OUATIMD remake has altered lyrics, somewhat more imaginative orchestration, and a brassier singer but is pretty recognizably the same song.
The Aashiqui 2 soundtrack is pretty alongside the picturizations but kind of blurs together, particularly the slow ambient love songs. I would think it wouldn't be that interesting out of context.

It all seemed kinda familiar to me when I first heard it, but it wasn't until I saw Tayyabu being surrounded by that gang of hijra that it dawned on me from where. I loved the original, but this one puts a huge smile on my face every time I watch it. I think this is the best dancing I've seen from Imran, and it made it even more impressive when I watched 'The Making Of...' and found out that a) it was filmed in 40+degC(which is, roughly speaking, damned hot Farenheit), and b) Sona said Imran doesn't like dancing. He surely seemed to be having a lot of fun doing this number.

I tried to like the 'Aashiqui 2' music, I tried really, really hard. But it does nothing for me. Even with my new favorite Arijit Singh doing most of the singing. I'm thrilled he had such success with it though.
Lungi Dance... Honey Singh is like the Indian Flo Rida/Pitbull, sooo. I like the part where they shout "Thalaiva" though.
This would be my heavy rotation list for 2013 songs.
