I rewatched (again) Hamari Atarya - and I think the reason some people call the choreography poor is that there is really not one memorable, signature move.
That is kinda a fail.
When you think about it is really just Madhuri being utterly gorgeous and graceful.... but if you imagine anyone else in the song, somebody less talented when it comes to dancing, it would really fall flat completely.

I interpreted this as some kind of dance-training thing for the younger women in the number, so didn't have a problem with the simplistic choreography. Mostly I just liked the way it was filmed, the contrast between light and dark. I agree with you on the choice of lead singer; her voice sounds really jarring coming out of Madhuri's mouth. At first I thought this was maybe a deliberate aesthetic choice for some reason that would make more sense in the film (like the eletronic stuff on Aga Bai in Aiyyaa), but the commenters online all seem convinced that the singer got the gig mostly because she's the producer's wife.

Madhuri should get The Best Choreographer In The World to choreograph for her - Derek Hough! (Yes, he already knows Bollywood.) Even so, I find this a very good dance, with some interesting expressions. Had any other woman done all of this, she would be highly praised for it. (IMNSHO) Dancelover I like the promo, a lot, but I´m not sure if I am not biased. Some people on other websites labeled it mediocre and other things, and I know for sure they are the last ones who would be saying it out of spite or anything. They are usually pretty level-headed.... I guess it has to do with expectations. One really does not expect anything less from MADHURI DIXIT than great and awesome, and the choreography here is not really on par of what she has done in the past. It was done by Remo, and I think he did a commendable job, but yeah.... when life gives you Madhuri, you push yourself harder than ever. I personally think the video is bit too dark And Rekha Bhardwaj´s voice is just so not Madhuri. One eventually gets used to it, but the first impression is just not right.

I don't mind Rekha Bharadwaj (nothing beats the perfection of Madhuri+Kavita Krishnamurthy obvs)but that electric guitar kind of ruins the whole thing.

Yeah, I felt the choreography was nothing to write home about, and my Madhuri Dixit fan credentials are pretty solid. I hope the movie works regardless, maybe they'll make up for it some other way. I'll still be seeing it in the theatre.

And from official website, a synopsis (putting it as a spoiler because I know some people don´t like to know even the basic {Click to view!} Taking on from where we left off, Dedh Ishqiya discovers yet another escapade of Khalujan (Naseeruddin Shah) and Babban (Arshad Warsi), a poetic journey underlined with revenge, drama and deception.
The Begum (Madhuri Dixit-Nene) of Mahmudabad is hosting a festival of poetry and music in her mansion. The country’s best poets are in town. Khalujan posing as the Nawaab of Chandpur, is participating as a poet in the festival.
He is not there merely to show off his poetic wares but to impress the widowed Begum who, as the grapevine suggests, is scouting for a husband -preferably a poet.
Babban (Arshad Warsi) arrives in Mahmudabad to take Khalujan back to their old life but his plans change the moment he sets his eyes on Begum’s maid and confidant, Munira alias Muniya (Huma Qureshi), a brash and sexy young woman.
Muniya too has plans of her own. She leaves the palace every now and then in a disguise to meet gangsters in dark alleys. The palace is rife with intrigue.
The shayari is dropped for the guns, daring chases and hidden intentions. In the end, love triumphs even if the players of the story do not. Apparently Begum is "an epitome of beauty, grace and culture. Keeping the tradition of her palace and city alive she yet lives in her own world of pain and agony." and Munnia is "ambitious, glib and alluring. More than all of these, Muniya is supremely aware of her sexuality and uses it to great effect. She says she has no time for love. She wants to travel the world. Muniya is a dangerously motivated woman who will stop at nothing to get what she wants."

The Ishqiya sagawww.telegraphindia.com/1131208/jsp/t2/story_17656776.jsp#.UqS6bcRQKSoAbhishek Chaubey on the journey from Ishqiya to Dedh Ishqiya Did the idea of a sequel happen right after you finished Ishqiya or did it develop later?I had no idea that Ishqiya (the 2010 film starring Naseeruddin Shah, Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi) could and would have a sequel. It was my producers who really wanted a sequel, but I had no story to tell! So, I told them: Well, I don't have a story and so I can't make the film'. They got together and told me that they would get me a writer and I was like: Ya, okay'. I was working on something else at that time and they got a writer on board who came up with the basic idea that later became Dedh Ishqiya. It was from that idea that Vishal sir (Bhardwaj, the film's producer) and I wrote the script. So the starting point wasn't the attempt to cash in on a successful franchise because that's what gives rise to most sequels in Bollywood...I don't have the cashing in' bone in my body! (Laughs) I was excited by the story and that's why I decided to make the movie. It was only when the basic idea of the film came to me that I decided to give it some thought. Vishal sir insisted that we work together on the script. Somewhere during that writing process I realised that I really do want to make this film because, even at the risk of sounding cliched, it's something new and unique. Ishqiya was a dark comedy and had the undertones of a classic noir. Is the tone and theme of Dedh Ishqiya similar?Yes, there are certain thematic elements that are common between the two films. The basic emotions that Ishqiya was about... romance, betrayal... are present here too. However, the two films are very, very different in both their skin and soul. It's a completely new world in Dedh Ishqiya that we are exploring from the eyes of the two men (Naseer's Khalujaan and Arshad's Babban). Barring a few cosmetic similarities with the first film,Dedh Ishqiya is a completely new experience. Is it true that you had only Madhuri Dixit in mind for the central role of the femme fatale?Vishal sir had told me once that he had read a Madhuri interview where she had mentioned that one of the films in the recent past that she had enjoyed was Ishqiya and to return to films, she was looking for a role like that. I felt good hearing that. When the story of Dedh Ishqiya happened, it needed a central protagonist and we felt that she fit the part perfectly. A Begum who lives in this palace and has this regal air about her... it was a role that was calling out for Madhuri. I first met her in August 2011 with the basic outline of the script. She really enjoyed it and did say immediately that she would love to be a part of it. I went back and wrote the screenplay and she was the first person to read it. The process of getting her on board was very smooth and didn't take much time... it's just that I take a lot of time to write!(Laughs) What did Madhuri bring to the role that probably some other actress couldn't have?First was the persona that she brought to Shahi Begum. Second was her beauty, of course. We needed a cracker of an actor to pull off the part and who better than Madhuri to do that? Was it intimidating directing Madhuri and Naseeruddin Shah in what is just your second film?As a director, I had to be on my toes. I had to know my stuff very well. They came in with so much talent and so much experience. They've been working since I was a baby(laughs). It was a bit unnerving at times, but the atmosphere on set was very cool. I wasn't stressed out... I let these guys loose and they performed on the basis of their instincts. How much creative liberty did Vishal as a mentor and producer give you?We wrote the script together and so both of us know the film inside out. He has a lot of faith in me and let's me be completely. I remember he came to the Dedh Ishqiya set only once and he made me wrap up early because he wanted to have a drink with me!(Laughs) He's been my biggest sounding board and in the prep stage when we were having some scheduling issues, he was always there to solve it for us. Will there be a third Ishqiya film or are you looking at doing something completely different?Ideally I want to get out of the Ishqiya space and do something different. But that's not saying that a third film in the franchise won't happen. As of now, I have no story in mind for another Ishqiya film.

They are all three very cute in that pic(and very well-dressed, I can say as someone who's not always been in love with their choice of clothes at the various promo events.)
