DVDs are here! I'm making Induna my go-to for Indian movies. Not only did they get here very quickly (three days from when I ordered them), ALL ten of them came. That's much more than I can say for myindiashopping, which tends to take weeks and orders are missing movies (I still haven't received three or four DVDs from them).

induna is my favorite, too. And I like Quick'n easy, a seller you can find at amazon's market place.

I was anticipating a shipment of 3 DVDs arriving from Induna today. Well I received a parcel - but not my order! Someone in the US received mine and I received his. I did get notification first thing this morning from Induna that this would happen and hopefully DHL/Induna will get the mix-up sorted out. So I am still waiting for Haider, Happy New Year and Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain. I don't know what the guy in the US is still waiting for but it is a heavy box, I bet he was a bit disappointed to get my 3 DVDs

Induna, bless their cotton socks, are re-sending my order from Kolkata and it is on its way having departed New Delhi.

Made a Bollywood film purchase after a year (last one being Queen on blu-ray).
Ordered Mughal-E-Azam from eBay - from a seller called bollywoodoldies - who I've bought from before.

I wrote a whole response to this about how several of these movies are among my all-time favorites, which I can watch any day even if I've just watched them yesterday, but my browser crashed and the response was lost. And now I have to get back to work, so I will just say: very nice haul.

You got it. Here's more or less what I said in the post that got eaten: Aan I sometimes call the worst movie I ever loved. The story is horrible but it is a terrific spectacle and so much evil fun to watch. You omitted Nadira from your cast summary but she's the best thing about it. Also look for outrageous, enormous, trippy, extravagant sets. Each of the evil characters has his or her own dungeon - one of which is entered through a tiger's mouth, the other through a dragon's mouth. Nadira's BATHROOM is bigger than most people's homes. Oh my God, it's so much fun. And that's from someone who doesn't even especially like Dilip Kumar, which I know you do. Amar Akbar Anthony is an absolute classic and superb masala. If you are prepared to surrender to the aesthetic of 1970s masala it will not disappoint. Fantastic songs, too, especially Rishi's songs. Chupke Chupke is pure delight. I could watch this film any time, and I'd show it to anyone. The Dharam/Sharmila relationship is so delicious and steamy. Really can't say enough good things about this movie. Naya Daur - Brilliant brilliant political allegory. As noted I am not even a Dilip Kumar fan as you are and I think this is superb, so I know you will enjoy it. It is a direct antecedent to Lagaan - as you watch it you will see how many times Lagaan quotes it and pays tribute to it. Also one of Ajit's best roles - if you know him as a masala baddie from the 70s this is quite a different avatar, and he's so dashing and heartbreaking in it. Just terrific stuff. Waqt - my favorite Yash Chopra film (except Kaala Patthar). Full of stylish 60s goodness, amazing songs, supercute young and earnest Shashi, Raaj Kumar with whom I have a peculiar fascination, Balraj Sahni who manages to perform delicately even in a broad masala-ish context. Great stuff. Yeah, so, I've seen a few of the others in your haul too and they are good and important and worth watching, but I just thought it was remarkable that so many of the movies you chose rank among my absolute favorites, possibly all of them in my top 20 if you forced me to compile such a list. Nicely done. I've written about all of these (and a couple of the others) at FG if you want to read more about why I think they are all so terrific.

(Hello Bollywhat!)
Good to know that there are others too who aren't satisfied with My India Shopping. On March 30 they offered a pre-order of the Telugu film Govindudu Andarivadele which released on DVD two days later. I had impatiently waited the DVD release already for six months so I immediately ordered it along with two other DVDs. Finally, on March 18 I got a message that my package was shipped. The shipment arrived on May 25, more than a month later. However, the pre-ordered DVD wasn't even included in the package, instead I got another DVD that I had ordered. I really can't complain that much since the one I got was an old and rare Rajinikanth film in a shiny DVD case and with subtitles even though the case didn't mention about the subs. The document in the package only said that the rest will be dispached from their branch office. That's weird especially for a pre-order. They are still advertising the movie in their newest email newsletter. Maybe I should sent them a message and ask about the missing DVDs.
(I also dislike their habit of packing films in movie posters. The posters usually got destroyed during unpacking, and that's waste of good posters which aren't even made available for buying online!)

I am STILL missing Anari and Mughal-E-Azam, two films I'm desperately wanting to see soon. I would send them a message...that's not a step I've taken (been too busy) but they might be receptive to your plea. Good luck! Sorry to hear you've had troubles.
