Box Office India boxofficeindia.com predicts that Five Films will make or break 2018. 1 - PADMAVATI: "... huge controversy has taken film['s] anticipation to another level. ... if it gets a clean release ........................ across the country ... the film can take ... a start far above the level of content and cast." 2 - ROBOT 2.0: "... stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar. Most expensive Indian film of all time. ....................... It is difficult to get it right for the Hindi and Tamil market, but if it does then ....................... anything can happen with this film."
^^^ Why is a cross-out line here? I did not command it. ^^^ Logging out and in again did not get rid of it. Please, pay no attention to the cross-out line!
3 - RACE 3: This is Salman Khan's film.
4 - THUGS OF HINDUSTAN: Aamir Khan and Amitaub Bachchan.
5 - ZERO: Shah Rukh Khan's film.

As of July 12, 2018. Numbers 2, 4, 5 are not out yet. PADMAVATI brought in 282 crore per BOI, 300 per Koimoi. Neither calls it a "Hit" because its expenses were over 150. They both require 100%+ profit to call a hit. They call it "Semi-hit" or "Plus." Me, I call it a Superhit. RACE 3 started fast for four days, then dropped quickly, but not nearly so much as Besharam. It earned about 160 per BOI, 169 per Koimoi. Both say that it broke even. I, the generous one, call it a Hit. The point is that they were both on the "make" side of BOI's make-or-break line. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also, SANJU, Rajkumar Hirani's biography of Sanjay Dutt, starring Ranbir Kapoor, is becoming a BLOCKBUSTER. Why it wasn't the Sixth Film on BOI's List, I do not know. Other Superhits are Alia Bhatt's RAAZI, Tiger Shroff's BHAAGI, and the astonishing SONU KE TITU KI SWEENY. Other Hits are Kareena's VEERE DI SHAADI (with Sonam, Swara, & Shiksa), John Abraham's PARMANU, Ajay Devgn's RAID, Rani Mukerji's HICHKI, and Akshay Kumar's PADMAN. Altogether a very good first half for 2018! End of 2018. ROBOT 2.0 was a BIG HIT in all languages it appeared in, including Hindi. THUGS OF HINDUSTAN and ZERO both flopped, disasterously, despite Aamir's and Shah Rukh's star power giving First Days of 50 crore and 20 crore respectively. But other Hit Films made up for them. Some, such as Simmba, were not really surprising. Others definitely were very surprising! BLOCKBUSTERS: Simmba, Rohit Shetty's film starring Ranveer Singh with Sara AliKhan. Badhaai Ho, Amit R. Sharma's film starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao. Super-hit: AndhaDhun, Sriram Raghavan's film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Tabu. All of these made for a good year, with many more receipts than 2017. (There is an argument that Padmavaat's receipts ought to be credited to 2017, but 2018 would still be on top.)
