Hello Again,
I joined the old forum in april 2011. At that time I had seen about 30 Indian films.
The first bollywood film I watched was Saawariya. At the time (oct. 2010) this movie made a big impression on me. It made me want to => a) watch more bollywood movies and b) watch more movies starring Rani Mukherjee.
Since then I have kept on collecting and watching indian movies. I must have seen about 300 indian films (hindi, tamil, telugu, malayalam, bengali, marathi & punjabi) by now. (32 in the theatre, about 20 on dvd and the rest on blu-ray.)
(In case anyone is curious here's a link to my collection => www.blu-ray.com/community/collection.php?u=127909 )
In 2011 I also developed an interest in learning hindi. I ordered "Elementary Hindi" (textbook + workbook) from Amazon.
I managed to learn the devanagari script by myself and also the basics of hindi but got stuck somewhere in chapter 8 of "Elementary Hindi".
In oct. 2012 I started learning hindi at Linguapolis (Antwerp University) (A one-year introductory 2 hrs/week course.)
I completed this course with succes. So sad Linguapolis don't offer a follow-up course. I guess it's back to completing "Elementary Hindi".
Since I live in Antwerp (Belgium), a town that has about 3.000 indian inhabitants, I can watch bollywood movies in the theatre. Our local multiplex, Kinepolis, only screens the EROS-films though, so the theatrical selection is limited. Still, I'm not complaining - with a new bollywood film to see about every two weeks.
This october, I was able to attend a screening of "Ugly" at a local art-house cinema (Cinema Zuid) It was quite a special screening since Anurag Kashyap was present to introduce his new film and for a Q+A session afterwards.
I'm looking forward to posting on this new forum, but I'm also quite sad at the prospect of the old forum filled with bolly-knowledge disappearing.
