We saw it Sunday and it was very well done. I did look up the story and it was pretty much exact. Konkona was way worth watching.

On Friday, Talvar's 1.5 crore collections equaled Singh is Bling's. Saturday's Talvar collection of 2.75 was a quarter-crore ahead!

November 29, 2015 Box Office India says "Talvar [now] highest grossing art house film in recent years." Talvar 30 crore in four weeks. Peepli Live 29 The Lunchbox 20.85 (wasn't Irrfan also in this?) Paan Singh Tomar 14.6 Manjli, The Mountain Man 13.5 (Nawazudin Siddique)
The list sure looks different with masala films removed!

I got through half of this and while I could see it was well done and mostly well acted, I was simply bored. I usually don't seek out crime thrillers in any film or literary genre, so that could be a big reason. I'm a big fan of Konkona but think she was really miscast here from what I saw.

*SPOILERS*
I liked that they showed the different versions of the case in the movie. It can also be a commentary about the dysfonctionnal legal system and the place of maids in the everyday life of Indian middle-class families. The fact that a lack of proper training and organisation led to the loss of substancial proofs or that the autopsy had been tweaked time and again...
The actors were good in that they are all suspects and everyone seemed ambigous the parents, the maids... though in the movie, it's shown that the parents are also victims which has never been proved but he! they needed their agreement to do the movie.
Overall, the movie is well-made but can seem manipulative in parts because it shows the parents as victims and the maids as guilty which hasn't been proved either.
It makes me want to see movies on the Sheena Bora murder case because of the mystery surrounding the murder and of the Ruchika Girhotra case because of the injustice surrounding the case.
